This campsite is in a quiet rural setting in the unspoilt Suffolk countryside offering 360 degree views over the fields on the outskirts
of Campsea Ashe and Wickham Market.
The Meadow is a one acre grass, hedged field which is suitable for both tents and caravans and is certified by the Camping and Caravanning Club. The Orchard is very pretty and enclosed, making it ideal for family groups or single pitches. In The Orchard you can also book and stay in their Magical Camping Bell Tents. The site is within easy reach of the A12 making it easy to travel to famous Suffolk towns.
Campfires Camping wouldn’t be camping without a good old campfire where you can toast your marshmallows sing some songs and share tall tales! Wood and kindling is for sale on site.
Facilities There is a converted stable block which offers a small kitchen area where you can wash up and have access to a fridge and freezer, off the kitchen is the creative space where if it is
raining you can gather to play traditional board games, paint, eat, cook on the camp stove and remain dry.The block also houses the campsite showers and toilets, with a family shower room. There is no electrical hook up here, just some plugs to charge your phones (if you need them) and boil a kettle!
DogsDogs are welcome but you must be kept on a lead and it is your responsibility to clear up after them.
Play Area Children are welcome to use the play area. Parents must be responsible for their children and must supervise them at all times.
Local amenitiesA10 minute walk from Brick Kiln Farm will bring you to the well stocked village shop and the local pub, The Dog and Duck. The pub doesn’t serve food but if you fancy a tipple head there.
Arrival timeArrival for the campsite is after 12pm and departure is by 11am, however if they do not have to turn the site around for new pitches they are happy for you to leave at your leisure, this must be made by prior arrangement.
Self check-inThe Mother and Daughter who own and run the site are self-employed and cannot always be on site, so they operate a self check in system. If you arrive and no one is about, don’t panic here is what will help you settle in: • Park up in the field near the stables• During busy periods there will be a pitch plan in the kitchen area look for your name/group name• Wood and kindling is in the garage area, help yourself and make a note of what you have bought on your booking forms• BBQ’s are for hire and are in the garage area too• If you can identify a pitch with a ‘scorch’ mark where previous fires have been that would be very helpful to us• Please feel free to use what you need to in the kitchen area, kettle, cups, utensils, hob, fridge, freezer, plug to charge phone!
Places to visit in the areaOrford Ness Nature Reserve – The biggest shingle spit in Europe was a top-secret military site from 1913 to the 1980s, catch the ferry over to the island and do some bird watching.
Sutton Hoo - One of Britain’s most important archaeological sites contains the burial chamber and funeral ship of the early Anglo-Saxon warrior king, Raedwald.
Bawdsey Quay Water Centre - Bawdsey Quay Watersports Centre is on the north bank of the River Deben estuary, opposite Felixstowe Ferry on the Suffolk coast. With access to the mouth of the river at all states of the tide, we have both river and sea sailing areas which offer safe learning environments for beginners. More experienced sailors will enjoy the more challenging waters offshore. We offer sailing, power boating and kayaking as well as other activities such as raft building.
There are plenty of museums, teashops or antique centres to keep you entertained

The Girl with the Dragon tattoo trilogy was
written by Swedish author Stieg Larsson at the turn of the millennium. His books were actually published posthumously. The three books follow the tales of two main protagonists. The first is Lisbeth Salander, a young, exceptionally intelligent and yet socially inept hacker. The second is the suave, handsome corporate reporter Mikael Blomkvist.
In the first book we encounter a crime thriller set in rural western Sweden in which the dapper Mikael Blomkvist seeks to unravel the disappearance of a young girl some 30 years ago. Hired by an old man seeking solace before his death, Mikael embarks upon a journey into some very dark corners of Swedish life. I love how the author makes great effort to describe his native country. He includes vivid detail of both city life in Stockholm where Blomkvist lives but also of more rural Swedish life. I can honestly say these books have made me want to visit Sweden to see some of the sights described!
In the following novels, the story of Lisbeth unfolds. Cleverly linked to the first book, the story of Lisbeth is one that slowly reveals a life of hardship, mistrust and
utter mistreatment by the state of Sweden. They reveal Lisbeth to be a formidable force fighting against criminal oppression from the Swedish state. In these two novels Blomkvist and Salander team up to unravel some truly cruel acts committed in the name of national security. This tale is a classic story of David VS Goliath and leaves you yearning to see Lisbeth triumph over her oppressors – but does she?!
These three books are one of the best crime thriller stories I have read. The depiction of Swedish life, scenery and its people forms a strong background of a much darker story – one you will definitely want to see through to the end.
