Singapore is a clear definition of how a country that has been labeled'unproductive can suddenly come and overtake her critics'.

Singapore was a trading colony founded in1819 after the first world war

They gained freedom from British colony in1963 and gained independence as asovereign state in 1965

In 1965 corruption was high and poverty washigher

Level of education was low and few peoplehad houses of their own

Today the story is different, WHY?

Lee's greatest achievement was nurturing an

educated middle class with a stake in thesystem, a distinct identity as SingaporeansHe gave incentives to citizens for investing in

    the welfare of the nation

He never shied away from criticism or fightswith the western press about his plans andconducts

Gave his people pride in themselves and not

a reliance on government welfare or handoutsGave an example to plan for a future and live

    a life of legacy

Lee Kwan Yew realized the first step to

    success was identifying problems

He summed the problems up as follows: Security

    Education (Human Capacity)

The truth was after identifying the problem

he knew he had to develop strategic plans

    that would shape the future

He ensured that external forces did not

    force their plans on him

He worked out a plan and walked with the

planMost important is that he owned the plan

with had the best of education and

He began the implementation in the

process: He experimented with other peoples ideas

Discarded ideas that did not work for his people

    Developed new strategies

Kept reviewing and implementing to ensure that

success was achieved Most important is he worked with a plan and a set

    vision

The climb up the ladder of success is not a

    days job

It requires hard work, patience, blind focus,

    tenacity, continuous learning and utilization

    of skills

To become a leader in your field a plan is

important and more than just a documenton paper
