“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings”. - William Arthur Ward FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK MARCH 16, 2017 I recently read an article about the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of gratitude. When we are grateful, we are healthier, happier, live longer and are more satisfied in life. I am grateful for a lot. Living in the UAE and working for GEMS is truly a privilege. I have the opportunity to work with some of the finest, most talented and committed colleagues. Each week I get to meet with parents, some concerned but many highly appreciative of the visible progress in their child, and the changes in the school. And with each passing day I see our dreams for GMS taking shape. We bring home more victories, and our students’ performance in the benchmarking examinations place us amongst the very best schools in the UAE. Our first school yearbook – MONTAGE – captures this transformation brilliantly. Most of all I am grateful for our exceptional students. I watch them trying to be their best - learning, leading, laughing, and making the most of their experience at GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah. Each day I bear witness to their incredible talent and effort. We find it in the classroom, on the sports field, and in the projects that they take on. Our students inspire me and remind me each day of the reason behind our every effort. Many of you have sent our teachers wonderful letters of appreciation. The teachers are really touched by your words. Thank you for recognizing their efforts and for motivating them. It makes such a difference. 2016 – 2017 has been an exciting school year. Thank you for being part of our remarkable school community, for contributing positively to the life of our school, and for entrusting your children to our care. I wish you more in the new academic year – more joy, more success and more reasons to be grateful!

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
MARCH 16, 2017
I recently read an article about the physical,
mental, and emotional benefits of gratitude.
When we are grateful, we are healthier, happier,
live longer and are more satisfied in life.
I am grateful for a lot. Living in the UAE and
working for GEMS is truly a privilege. I have the
opportunity to work with some of the finest,
most talented and committed colleagues. Each
week I get to meet with parents, some concerned but many highly appreciative of the
visible progress in their child, and the changes
in the school.
And with each passing day I see our dreams for
GMS taking shape. We bring home more
victories, and our students’ performance in
the benchmarking examinations place us amongst the very best schools in the UAE. Our
first school yearbook – MONTAGE – captures
this transformation brilliantly.
Most of all I am grateful for our exceptional
students. I watch them trying to be their
best - learning, leading, laughing, and
making the most of their experience at GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah. Each day I
bear witness to their incredible talent and
effort. We find it in the classroom, on the
sports field, and in the projects that they
take on. Our students inspire me and
remind me each day of the reason behind
our every effort.
Many of you have sent our teachers
wonderful letters of appreciation. The
teachers are really touched by your words.
Thank you for recognizing their efforts and
for motivating them. It makes such a
difference.
2016 – 2017 has been an exciting school
year. Thank you for being part of our remarkable school community, for contributing positively to the life of our
school, and for entrusting your children to
our care.
I wish you more in the new academic year – more joy, more success and more reasons
to be grateful!

brought out the cultural features of the U.A.E., India, Japan, Mexico, Brazil,
China, Africa, U.S.A and Spain through song and dance. The children from
the Manzil Centre who performed along with the students charmed all
present.

ADI SHANKARA YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD
The competition became more intense with the One-Minute Pitch, in which we had to present our project within a minute to a panel of
judges. There was a Pre-final presentation through Skype again.
After all these rounds, 100 projects qualified for the finals at Kalady
and I was one of them. The 2 day event was an experience I will never forget. The 100 final projects were judged by three panels of jury and
these were further short-listed to a final 34. I was selected in the top 34. I was given a Certificate of Encouragement and a Consolation
prize. I also got a scholarship for further studies at the Adi Shankara
Institute.

The Adi Shankara Young Scientist Award was organised by Adi
Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology in Kalady, Kerala. In
mid-December I registered for the competition. This was followed by
the submission of an extremely detailed PowerPoint presentation
and a Zeroth review (via skype).
As a part of the competition, we were requested to make a poster
and video highlighting our project which was uploaded on the Adi
Shankara's Facebook page.
Thanks to all the support received from school, my family and
friends. I was able to collect 250+ likes
