TERM 3 ISSUE 1 FRIDAY, 31 JULY 2020
Dear Parents, Students and Community Members, What three things
are you grateful for today? Students and Staff at Mount Pleasant
have been engaging in a 21 day positive psychology challenge to
communicate 3 different things they are grateful for each day until
August 19. We challenge you all to join us. Some common responses
from our students to date include: family, friends and teachers…
isn’t that nice. One thing we are all certainly grateful for is our
wonderful P&C who are always striving for ways to ensure our
parents can be involved and feel connected to our amazing school,
and celebrate our students. On top of everything they did last
term, this term they have arranged (or are busily arranging):
A Busy Bee, with afternoon tea for all parents to come along.
Thank you to our helpers. A Disco - for next Friday 7 August (don’t
forget to buy your tickets at
https://www.trybooking.com/BKRMP). An Art Exhibition 20 & 21
August (in collaboration with Mrs Cridland) The Lap-a-thon (under
development) First Aid Kit fundraiser Entertainment Book
fundraiser
Details for P&C fundraising can be found on our Mount
Pleasant Website:
https://www.mountpleasantps.wa.edu.au/page/495/P&C-Fundraising
Our next P&C meeting is being held on Wednesday 5 August,
starting at 7pm in our Staff room. We encourage you to attend.
Working together, our community has been very supportive as we have
been navigating our way through Covis-19 protocols. As we continue
in Phase 4 of our Covid-19 roadmap our school activities will
remain on schedule, with high expectations that all adults adhere
to physical distancing and personal hygiene. Parents, we ask that
you please refrain from accessing our corridors and classroom
unless invited by your classroom teacher. 2021 Enrolments Please
advise our office if your child/ren will not be attending Mount
Pleasant Primary School in 2021. This can be done by emailing:
[email protected] or phoning 9316 1045. This
information is instrumental to our 2021 planning. Canteen
Volunteers Another way to get involved with our school is by
helping out at the canteen. Students are always thrilled to see
parents in our canteen and the support this gives Julie, our
canteen manager, is invaluable. If you are able to help out, please
contact Julie for further information on 0430 141 282, or write you
name on the roster outside the canteen.

TERM 3 ISSUE 1 FRIDAY, 31 JULY 2020
Australian Maths Competition Students from Y3 – Y6 were invited
to engage in the annual Australian Maths Competition on Thursday 30
July. Good luck to all our budding mathematicians. Playing before
and after school Please be reminded that students should not arrive
prior to 8:30 and are expected to have left the school grounds
straight after the bell. Children who do arrive early are asked to
wait on the grassed area by our kiss and drive. This is where we
provide a duty of care for students. Should parents choose to let
their children play after school, we ask that they directly watch
their child. The same school rules apply where we expect students
are safe and respected. No children should be playing behind sheds,
or in our garden beds. If children are not collected on the bell,
they are to wait in the administration office. No child should be
playing before or after school without their parent or carer
directly watching them. OSH Club – Before and After School Care For
working parents who need care before or after school, or during
vacation, please contact our OSH Club. Their family handbook is
available online. https://www.oshclub.com.au. There are also copies
in our office. Reports were emailed today. If you did not receive
your child’s report please contact our office, as there may be an
issue with your contact email. Please be aware that the email link
is temporary so you need to download and save this report to your
personal storage. Congratulations to Ms Corrie’s class – R8 and
Miss Seddon’s class R9 on their extremely entertaining book
character interviews in their assembly item. Inspired by Roald Dahl
classics: the Twits and Charlie and Chocolate Factory this item is
extremely entertaining. Congratulations to our Honour Certificate
recipients and our Working Together recipients as well. Art
Exhibition We are all super excited for our inaugural Art
Exhibition with special thanks to Mrs Narelle Cridland, Visual Arts
Specialist Teacher. This is being held in Week 5. The opening is
between 4pm – 6:30 pm on 20 August. The exhibition will remain open
between 8:30am to 3:30pm in our undercover and surrounding areas.
Our P&C have organised a silent art auction as a fundraising
venture. Chess Club The Chess Club will commence again on Tuesday 4
August 2020 in the Library after students have eaten their
lunch.

CHAPLAIN NEWS
Pastoral Care The role of Chaplain is wide and varied, depending
on the needs of the school, but the major focus is pastoral care. I
count it a privilege to pastorally care for the students, staff and
families at our school, so if I can be of help please let me know.
We all face challenging times in our lives, and having a ‘safe
place’ to share and work through our feelings can help a lot. A
message can be left at the front office or feel free to phone or
visit me at school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Of course
seeing a Chaplain is voluntary and if you would rather your child
does not catch up with me during the year, please let the front
office or myself know. MPPS 5 Cents Challenge Since 2014 Mount
Pleasant Primary have been raising money through cake stalls and 5
cent collection jars, to support the important work TEAR Australia
is doing around the world in poor communities. We know that
education is very important for helping lift people out of poverty
and we do not want to take for granted the wonderful privilege we
have to go to school and have so many excellent resources around
us. Every year we have raised around $2000 to go towards education
projects. More information about the projects we are supporting can
be found on the pinup board near Room 1. You will find a collection
jar in your classroom to put 5 cents coins into. Other coins are
welcome too. From little things, big things can grow!
