GOSPEL CHURCH MISSION VOLUME 2 December 4, 2016 Number 48 Greetings Southside Family, This morning we will observe our annual “Missions March”. I am thankful to serve as pastor of a church who believes in Great Commis- sion giving. Southside Baptist Church has a rich heritage of giving sac- rificially and generously to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth. This heritage extends for many decades and the Lord has blessed and will continue to bless a church who takes missions seriously. “We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of afflic- tion, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.” (2 Cor. 8:1-2). I ask you to seek the Lord earnestly and give sacrificially to this Sunday’s Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our church goal is $18,ooo, and I am confident that we can meet and exceed this goal. Let’s pray and give and see what God will do in order for the nations to know Him! For His Glory, Bro. Stacy From the Pastor’s Heart

GOSPEL CHURCH MISSION
VOLUME 2 December 4, 2016 Number 48
Greetings Southside Family,
This morning we will observe our annual “Missions March”. I am thankful to serve as pastor of a church who believes in Great Commis-sion giving. Southside Baptist Church has a rich heritage of giving sac-rificially and generously to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth. This heritage extends for many decades and the Lord has blessed and will continue to bless a church who takes missions seriously.
“We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of afflic-tion, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.” (2 Cor.

In September 1950, plans were approved for the second unit. In October 1951 a bid of $60,000 was accepted for a new auditorium and second floor section
(presently the choir room). In 1952 we purchased oak pews at a cost of $3,000 for the second unit, (later some of these were moved to the current balcony). In 1956 we had seven working committees:
Baptismal, Lord’s Supper, Building, Budget, Audit, Flower and Hospitality. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in November of 1956 after the church was awarded a contract for our present auditorium, new pews were purchased for $8,000. The new auditorium was dedicated on February 15, 1959, total
cost was $250,000. A new Allen organ purchased at this time cost $7,790.

Good morning,
As we move into December our busy schedules get even busier. This time of year there never seems to be enough hours in the day. Shopping, gatherings with both friends and family, and the seemingly endless “Lifetime Christmas movies” fill our every waking moment. During the month of December, don’t forget to take some time to reflect on the real Gift. “For God so loved the world that He gave.” The Ultimate Giver giving the Ulti-mate Gift, His Son to take our place and pay the debt for our sin that He didn’t owe.
I realize that the summer is months away, but I am excited about the lineup for WIRED2017. David Crowder, Passion City Worship Band, Trip Lee, and Rend Collective will be our worship leaders for the week. Speakers will be Brad Jones, Louie Giglio, Ben Stuart, Trip Lee, and D. A. Horton. Sign up now!
The Xtreme Winter conference in Gatlinburg was looking doubtful for a while last week. Downtown Gatlinburg was spared during the devastating wild fire that engulfed the area. The conference will be going on as scheduled. We will be pulling out at 5:29A.M. on December 27th. Please keep the people that live and work in the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge area as they recover and rebuild.
Solus Christus, Bro. D.
