MANAGER’S REPORT By Dan Pittaro, CAM

Greetings everyone! The season is nearly upon us, and we have many exciting additions and changes to our wonderful community. We are adding shuffleboard and bocce courts in the amenities area, to go along with our basketball and pickleball courts. We are also adding a “conversation pit” by the tennis court entrance. And the new secured bicycle storage area is open and available to those wishing to store their bikes outside their unit.

We have a new landscape and grounds team. Fine Cut Landscaping and David Niklas Irrigation are now taking care of the grounds, under the supervision of board member Rick Pluese. I predict you will see many improvements to the property upon your return.

Here are a few reminders for everyone: • Be sure to pick up your new mailbox keys.

They are available in my office. • Many owners have yet to return their owner

information sheet. This is important information. Please return the form at your first opportunity. If you don’t have the form, please contact me for another copy.

• Please observe all speed limit rules and traffic signs on the property. Do not let anyone you are unfamiliar with past the gate, even if the entrance is backed up. And please, DO NOT TAILGATE!

• If you are aware of a maintenance item that needs attention, get a maintenance request form either from the manager’s office or the library. Please do not pass the information on verbally to either Kevin or myself, or it may not get done. We both have many things going on at any point in time, and may easily forget.

• Remember that paper and cardboard go in the trash compactor, not in recycling. We have been cited several times recently by Waste Management for having contaminated recycling containers. They have the right to

fine us if it persists. We don’t want to be assessed any unnecessary costs to the community.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your holidays!

Editorial Comment by Terri Kathman, Editor

We arrived at Pinestone this week and it was just in time. They had the first freeze at our home up north and from what I hear from our friends here in Sarasota the weather just cooled off and settled into perfect 70 degree weather here in Sarasota. Boy are we fortunate! Pinestone looks beautiful with all the improvements the Plant and Beautification Committee has implemented. I was especially impressed with the new walkway from Wingate to the tennis courts and the rebirth of the green space that you pass on the way to the pool. Pinestone has really been busy while I was gone.

It has been a rough couple years dealing with Covid 19 and all the restrictions we have had to deal with, but hopefully most of that is behind us. I was excited to see the Awesome Breakfast on the agenda along with many other social activities including the Friday Night Socials in January. It will be great reconnecting with all our friends some who have been enjoying this place all summer. It’s like having a reunion every year, even more so this year! In addition I look forward to meeting the many new neighbors we haven’t had a chance to meet because of the Covid restrictions.

I feel so fortunate to be able to call Pinestone home and even though family draws us north every summer the friends we have made here are the next best thing to family.

On another note, have a wonderful Holiday Season and don’t forget the Toys for Tots program when you see the announcement on the bulletin board. With all the blessings we have, we should think about those less fortunate.

WELCOME BACK

It is that time of the year when our seasonal residents start coming home to roost. We all welcome you back and hope the trip was good and the start-up will go well. The following may help this part go a little better. Your unit has been operating on its own for a few months and now is the time for some start up maintenance. The AC unit will need a filter change and don’t forget the bleach/water treatment for the condensate line. If you have a service plan, now is a good time to have the unit checked out. Make sure the air is out of your water lines since the system was shut off. Running each faucet and flushing a few times will ensure a good flow. Before putting that lanai furniture back out, give the deck a good cleaning. Try vacuuming first and it makes the finishing go better. If you have made your calls from up north, all deliveries and electronics should be up and running. If not, have those phone numbers waiting. Also not a bad time for getting that dryer vent cleaned out if you haven’t had it done recently. The office has the name of a company that does that work in Pinestone. Last but not least…check in with the office, let them know you are back.

Chuckle for the Month Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards. One day they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, “Now don’t get mad at me….I know we’ve been friends for a long time….but I just can’t think of your name! I’ve thought and thought, but I can’t remember it. Please tell me what your name is.” Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, “How soon do you need to know?”
