Brain research is underfunded

Future directions for the Network (1)

Focus on helping researchers develop their ideas for treatment trials and related studies by strengthening the Protocol Development Service.

Actively encourage the development of PDGs in key areas such as depression (primary and secondary care), substance misuse and developmental disorders.

Future directions for the Network (2)

Work more closely with:– The Mental Health Research Networks in England

and Wales– Topic-specific Networks such as the Scottish

Primary Care Research Network and the Scottish Dementia Research Network

– NHS R&D Departments– Research organisations such as the WTCRFs

Future directions for the Network (3)

Consult with:– Clinicians and researchers– Psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, counsellors,

physiotherapists…– Patients, carers and the public– Industry

on how the Network can best engage and support them in research.
