This was the first time students from Year 1-6 were in- volved in the dramatisation and they did a magnificent job! Congratulations to Mr Maher who coordinated the celebration and practiced tirelessly with the students. Thank you to the teachers who sup- ported Mr Maher, especially Mrs Vinci and the choir. Final- ly, congratulations to the children involved in the re- enactment. Your professionalism in working together and remembering your lines and tableau positions, as well as your reverence, were particularly noted. What a beautiful weekend we were blessed with over Easter. I hope families were able to spend some quality time together celebrating the religious aspect of Easter as well enjoying and sharing all the chocolate! It’s a great feeling knowing that there are eight school days left before the holidays and with the mini Easter break rejuvenating us, the school community should finish off the term on a positive note. The last day of Term 1 is 13 April and Term 2 begins for students on Tuesday 1 May. Staff will be engaged in a Digital Literacies Pro- fessional Learning Day on Monday 30 April. VACATION CARE If you require care for your children over the holidays and/or the Pupil Free Day on 30 April, please contact the OSHC on 9251 3015. Interschool Swimming Carnival Tomorrow, our swim team will represent Sacred Heart at the Interschool Swimming Carnival at AquaLife on Somerset Road in Victoria Park. The carnival begins at 9.30am and we look for- ward to seeing many parents, family and friends cheering loudly! Thank you to Miss Shaw who has prepared the team with the help of Mr Maher and Mrs Fragapane. Autism Awareness Day Each year the Autism Association of Western Australia, together with other organisations na- tionally and internationally, hold an Autism Awareness Week to raise community recognition of the needs and accomplishments of children and adults with Autism. Last week was the official Autism Awareness Week, however on April 11 Sacred Heart are celebrating Autism Awareness Day. On this day the students are asked to dress and 'decorate in blue' for a gold coin dona- tion. Students need to wear their normal school uniform and accessorise in blue, for example blue shoes, wigs, jewellery, arm bands, hair spray etc. There will also be a cake stall at recess selling all things blue to eat! You are more than wel- come to donate to the cake stall but this is only voluntary.

The day looks to be a fun event with a sausage sizzle, face painting, coffee and donut stall as well as performances by our school choir.
The choir will perform from about 9.45am. Choir members have to be dressed in correct summer uniform and be at school for a quick warm up at 9.30am. They also have to have completed a parent permission slip.

Autism Awareness Day 2018
This year we are celebrating Autism Awareness Day in our school on 11 April.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder which affects social skills, verbal and non-verbal communication and behaviour.
21.7 million people worldwide are estimated to be affected by Autism. It occurs four to five times more often in boys than girls.
In Australia, it’s estimated that one in 100 people have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – which is almost 230,000 Australians.
We would like to support the Autism Association of WA . The theme is ‘Light it up Blue’ so we would like to invite all students to ‘decorate their uniform in blue’ for a gold coin donation. They need to wear their normal school uniform but can accessorise in blue for example blue shoes, wigs, jewellery, arm bands, hair spray etc. All of this needs to be done at home before arriving to school.
We will also be running a cake stall ‘bake it blue’ at recess and all proceeds will be going to the Autism Association of WA. You are more than welcome to donate to the cake stall, but this is only voluntary. Everything will be valued under $1.
Thank you for collecting the vouchers and placing them in the School’s box at Coles Forest Lakes or in the office, so far we have collected just over 25,000!
The competition has now ended, so make sure you gather any vouchers laying around the house or in your handbag as we have until the end of May to get them back to Coles!!!
