• A frog is an amphibian which means that it does not have a backbone. Frogs live part of their life in water and part on land. Amphibians are cold blooded creatures, this means their body temperature is the same as the environment.

• Frogs are able to absorb water into their skin. This means they do not have to drink water to survive.

• Frogs have strong hind legs which is why they can hop very far.

Where do frogs live?• Frogs live all over the

world except Antarctica.

• Most frogs live in warmer places.

• Some live near water such as ponds. But most frogs live on land.

• Frogs eat other animals such as bugs and worms. Frogs sit still and wait for the bugs to fly by. Then it sticks its long tongue out and eats them.

Egg

Frogs lay their eggs in a big group. They lay the

eggs in still water. After 6-21 days the egg will

hatch.

Tadpoles live in the water and breathe through gills like a fish. After 4 weeks the gills will become covered by skin. Tadpoles eat algae for now.

Legs will form after 6-9 weeks. They begin eating bugs and plants.

• The frog will now get out of the water and move to land.
