I Corinthians 1:22-25 ... a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Genles. (1 Corinthians 1:23)
Two thousand years later this same Jesus is at the center of our , faith This "foolish" gospel draws us together each Sunday And . how blessed we are to believe in such folly"! We have a God "who loves us so completely that He laid down His life for us. As we receive Jesus in the Eucharist today let s allow , 'the "folly of that message to sink deeper into our hearts. "
Pam was ready to buy an old table at a flea market when a man told her that it wasn't sturd and would not hold up. While this y presented a stumbling block Pam bought it anyway In 1975, a , friend told Jim about a new soware company that he was thinking of invesng in. Convinced it was a failure, Jim s dad 'called the investment a foolish waste of money, but Jim didn't listen. He went ahead and bought some shares of the stock. Years later, Pam had her table appraised and discovered that it was a valuable anque worth fiy thousand dollars. Jim's investment in a lile-known company called Microso had mulplied over and over again and made Jim a healthy sum of money. A stumbling block? Foolishness? Perhaps. But these are the same words that St. Paul used in describing the gospel message.
"Jesus, your love is greater than anything this world can offer. I embrace the 'folly' of your salvaon " . Exodus 20:1-17 •Psalm 19:8-1 1 •John 2: 13-25
The image of a crucified Messiah was a stumbling block to Jews. Jesus' life and death did not match up with the way they had expected God to save them. Likewise, the philosophical Greeks . could not fathom Paul's explanaon of salvaon. To them, it was nothing more than an odd, made-up story Sll, a few Jews and Greeks accepted Paul's words, believed in Jesus and gave their , lives to Him. And the one unique message that formed the foundaon of the faith that they proclaimed? The message of a crucified and risen Messiah!
Pope’s Monthly Prayer Intenons
Let us pray that we may experience the sacrament of reconciliaon with renewed depth, to taste the infinite mercy of God.
Sacrament of Reconciliaon
Let us pray for peace, joy and love. We are reminded that Jesus came to bring the good news: “My peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.” He came not to give the peace of the world which is only that we do not harm each other. He came to give the peace of heart which comes from loving - from doing good to others.
"I Heard God Laugh" we sll have a few copies le. If you
would like one, please call the office to arrange to pick it
up. We would appreciate a minimum good will offering of
$5.00 per book to cover costs.

Auvril Edwards was born in Montserrat to mother Dorothy, a successful entrepreneur, and father Dr. Brunel l Edwards , who had immigrated to Canada in 1958. She pursued her studies at Montreal’s Sir George Williams (now Concordia University), as well as Toronto’s George Brown College and Durham College. Auvril’s husband’s job as a civil engineer afforded her extensive opportunies for travel across Canada. While in different parts of the country, she zealously used her volunteer program at different charitable organizaons to help those who were less fortunate. Despite the tragic loss of her only child to brain cancer when they were only 17 years old, Auvril’s determinaon to connue impacng lives exemplifies her resilience. Her unwavering leadership, and the progress she has achieved at LaSalle Mulcultural Resource Center (LMRC), have established her as a champion of the community. She is the embodiment of professionalism and integrity, and fights against systemic racism in Quebec. Auvril is passionate about socioeconomic equity, jusce, unity, the advancement of all people, and English-minority access to health, social, and educaonal services.Watch her message on - hps://youtu.be/eDwS_YKstxw
