British troops in North America needed a place to stay .
Quartering Act –colonist had to supply and quarter(house) British troops
Not much they could do.
As a result of the F &I War British needed revenue (income) to help pay for the war and to keep troops in North America.
Sugar Act – 1764 this law placed a tax on sugar, molasses, and other products shipped to the colonies. They did not consult the colonist. Stamp Act – 1765 Made the colonist buy and place stamps on goods such as diplomas, contracts, and newspapers
Got angry, TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
Protested the Stamp Act by calling a Stamp Act Congress, boycotting British goods, forming secret groups Sons of Liberty
