NEW DELHI, June 11: The CVC will check delay in giving vigilance clearance to Government officials for their pro- motion and empanelments, its newly-appointed Vigilance Comm- issioner T M Bhasin said today. Besides, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) will also take steps to check vexatious com- plaints of corruption against the Government officials. Bhasin, former Indian Bank CMD who took over as new Vigilance Commissioner in the CVC today, took a review meeting here with the Commission officials. “We will look for ways to check delay in granting vigilance clearance to officials,” he said after taking over the new charge. The clearance by CVC is needed for promotion and empan- elment of Group A officials and senior functionaries in public sec- tor banks and enterprises. Bhasin said the Commission will take steps to stop vexatious complaints of corruption against the Government officials. “As per decision from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), we do not take any action on anonymous cor- ruption complaints. We will take more steps to check vexatious complaints,” he said. Bhasin was on Monday appointed as the Vigilance Commissioner by President Pranab Mukherjee for a period of four years. He was administered the oath of office by K V Chowdary, who joined as Central Vigilance Commissioner yesterday, CVC officials said. Bhasin, who demitted office of Indian Bank CMD yesterday, has an outstanding unblemished and impeccable professional serv- ice record of over 37 years in the fields of banking, finance, law, vigilance and investigations. The CVC, country’s anti- corruption watchdog, is headed by a Central Vigilance Commissioner and has two Vigilance Commissioners. Rajiv, former Director General of Central Industrial Security Force, is the other Vigilance Commissioner in CVC. Bhasin holds LL.B, MBA (Finance), Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and M.Sc (gold medal- ist), degrees. He had joined Oriental Bank of Commerce as a Probationary Officer in June 1978 and rose to the rank of General Manager in September 2003.
