Friday, April 5, 2019 All NEW items for each day are highlighted THIS WEEK: 1) There will be no school on Friday, April 5 th for all juniors. 2) Please see below for information/ scheduling on Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress. 3) The Wildcat boys track and field squad finished 7th at the SEP Ram Relays on Thursday 4/4 with 71 points. Top place winners went to the shuttle hurdle relay team of Trenton Beck-Karson Dunn-Jacob Imhoff-Nolan Brunsen who ran a season best time of 61.34 to finish 2nd. The 4x800 meter relay team of Kolby Fritz-Ethan Schlichte- Carter Logue-Kyle Miller also finished 2nd in 8:37.61. Trenton Beck finished 3rd in the high jump, Kyle Miller 3rd in the 1600m run, Nolan Brunsen 4th in the 110m high hurdles, Nic Goodhue 5th in the 400m dash, Jacob Imhoff 5th in the 200m dash, and Brandon Kesner 5th in the 3200m run. The 800m sprint medley team of Tegan Wyckoff- Bryce Murray-Hung Hoang-Justin Neely finished 5th as did the 4x100m relay team of Goodhue-Brunsen-Dunn- Imhoff. The top JV placewinners were Quincy Griffin (T-1st in high jump), Karson Dunn (2nd in 110m high hurdles), Ryan Roland (4th in 400m hurdles), Matthias Beattie (4th in long jump), 4x800m relay team (4th: Q Kessler-Norton-Lopez-Holland), Joey Donovan (5th in the discus), and the 4x100m relay team (6th: Page-Wenthe- McCaughey-Wyckoff) 4) The Carlisle Girls Track and Field team continued their outdoor season at the Ankeny Hawkette Invitational. The 8-team invitational is one of the top metro-area meets of the season, with the other 7 teams in the field all being 4A CIML schools. Despite competing up a class for the second time this season, the Wildcats held their own, finishing 4 th overall in the team scoring. Megan Sievers finished 2 nd in a tight battle in the 3000 meter run in a time of 11:42.65. Jocelyn Haack used a furious last sprint and lean over the final hurdle to nab 2 nd place by .02 seconds in a time of 17.17. The Sprint Medley Relay team of Tristine Viers, Natalea Statler, Paige Mercer, and Ainsley Erzen finished 2 nd in the 2 nd fastest time in school history with a mark of 1:53.76. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay squad of Morgan Lose, Tristine Viers, Cam Mesecher, and Jocelyn Haack ran to a 3 rd place finish in 1:11.23. Adelynn Ahartz switched over from long jump to high jump this meet and once again notched a top-2 finish, placing 2 nd with a leap of 4 feet 10 inches. Meredith Hoffman unleashed a lifetime best throw in the discus of 107 feet 8 inches to finish in 2 nd place in the competition. The girls team will compete next compete at Norwalk on Monday, April 9 th . 5) Students: If you are interested in starting a Best Buddies program please see Mrs. Heidemann. 6) Apparel for Special Olympics is now available. Please see flyer below for more details. 7) Principals Council will have their next meeting on Friday, April 12 th during all of 4 th period. Lunch will be provided. 8) Attention Students: Order forms for Prom pictures are now in. Please come to the office to pick those up. 9) Attention Students in regards to Grand March: Students will NOT be allowed into the school before 4:00pm. Due to construction, students will enter at the OFFICE DOORS. You will be directed to the auditorium to wait for Grand March to start at 5:00pm. NO DRINKS ARE ALLOWED. If you come in with a water/soda/drink bottle of any kind IT WILL BE CONFISCATED AND THROWN AWAY. The Commons doors will open for the public at 4:00pm. 10) Cost of admission to Grand March will be to bring any sports drinks, energy drinks, soft beverages or water for the students to enjoy at After Prom. 11) Attention students in regards to After Prom: The Commons doors open for After Prom at 11:00pm. NO BAGS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED. Students will not be allowed to change their clothes inside the school, so plan ahead for changing out of your formal wear. Parents will be called for anyone registered who is not checked in by 12:30am. Throughout the night, senior names will be drawn for prizes, but not everyone will get a prize. All prizes are to be picked up in the choir room at the end of the night. Prizes not claimed at the end of After Prom will be forfeit. All students should be off school grounds by 4:30am. 12) Cost of Admission to After Prom will be $30. Registration needs to be turned in by Friday, April 5 th . 13) You can now order Boys Golf clothing. Feel free to purchase if you would like.     HERE. AFTER PROM starts at 10:30pm on Saturday April 6 and runs until 3:30 am on Sunday. We still need

    several volunteers - if we can't fill these spots, we will have to shut down some activities. It's fun and FAST and lets

    you see your teens in their natural habitat! Sign up HERE. Contact JeanAnne at 515-822-2940 for more

    16) Prom is Saturday, April 6 from 8-11pm at Adventureland Palace Theater. Prom tickets will be sold from March 25 through April 3 for $20 each. You can purchase those from Mrs. Eginoire or from the library. Students must

    have a ticket to get into prom. 17) The After Prom Food Committee is asking for some help with food and drink donations. You can sign up using

    21) Any current 9th-11th graders interested in the healthcare field, check out this great summer opportunity at Drake University July 25-27th! BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare introduces students to careers in the health professions

    by educating them about opportunities in health sciences and exploring different pathways using hands-on lab

    experiences and more. For more information about the program goals, activities and requirements, visit the College

    of Pharmacy and Health Sciences website.

    22) There is a Part-Time paid intern position at the Carlisle Public Library during the summer open. You would work approximately 10-15 hours per week. Pay will be $10-$11 an hour depending on experience. Evenings and

    some Saturdays will be required. Applicant must be at least 16 years old. Please see flyer below for more

    3) Attention seniors: Here is a great opportunity to apply for a number of scholarships available through the Carlisle Alumni Association. Come to the office and speak with a counselor with any questions. Application is due by

    Friday, April 5! Don’t wait to apply.

    4) There is a New Scholarship for Peoples Bank. The application must be submitted electronically directly to Peoples Bank by April 12. Please let one of the counselors know if you have any questions. Please use the link:

    Carlisle Police Officers Association has created a new scholarship for Carlisle graduates. The application is located

    you have any questions. The scholarship application is due in the office to SRO Hauser by April 19. 7) There is a new scholarship available to any senior whose parent(s) is an employee of Carlisle Schools. CCEA

    School Employee Scholarship is due to the High School Counseling office by Friday, April 26. See form attached

    below. 8) Seniors – If you have received a scholarship that you would like to have announced at Senior Awards Night,

  • Dear Students, Parents/Guardians of Carlisle High School, In the past, students in Iowa have taken the Iowa Assessments. This year, those tests will be replaced by the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) as the accountability test for all Iowa students. The test, developed by Iowa Testing Programs (ITP) at the University of Iowa per the Iowa Legislature, will be administered to students at Carlisle High School during the first two weeks of April. Assessments will be administered in the following subjects and grade levels:

    Grade 9 o Monday, April 1 (Reading, Math) o Tuesday, April 2: No School (Juniors have ACT Testing) o Wednesday, April 3, (Language/Writing, Conditions for Learning Survey)

    Grade 10 o Monday, April 1 (Reading, Math) o Tuesday, April 2: No School (Juniors have ACT Testing) o Wednesday, April 3 (Science) o Tuesday, April 9 (Language/Writing, Conditions for Learning Survey)

    Unlike Iowa Assessments, the ISASP will be given on computers and will not be timed. Visit the ISASP website for more information or view their video that provides an overview of the test. Just like the ACT, SAT, and AP tests, no personal electronic devices (smart watches, cell phones, iPods, etc.) will be allowed during testing. If you must reach your child during this time, please call the office to have a message delivered.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Title: Summer Reading Program Intern Reports to: Library Director

    Category: Non-exempt seasonal

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Summer Reading Program Intern primarily assists the Children’s Librarian with coordinating and assisting with youth

    programs, interacts with members of the public participating in the Summer Reading Program and aides other library staff

    with specific summer events. The intern will interact with patrons to provide information, assist patrons in locating materials,

    and use computer online catalog and other media products.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Registers library users for the Summer Reading Program, and explains the program to them. 2. Passes out prizes for the Summer Reading Program as participants reach designated levels. 3. Assists library staff with programs and activities including set up, supervision of activity and clean-up. 4. Sorts and shelves library materials in designated section and order. 5. Assists patrons in identifying or locating material in the collection; including using the computerized catalog. May

    include checking in and out of materials.

    6. Ensures regular and punctual attendance to allow for effective teamwork with other employees, face-to-face interaction with patrons and staff, and working with items or equipment located at the Carlisle Public Library.

    7. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must be at least 16 years old 2. Required to move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. 3. Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed

    paperwork

    4. Ability to stand for long periods of time assisting patrons 5. Be able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic and

    handwritten) in English with other employees, library patrons, and the community.

    6. Be comfortable working in close proximity to all ages.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    1. Climate-controlled building with hazards typical of that environment, minimal outdoor work is required. 2. Standard work hours must be flexible and include evenings and weekends.

    Starting wage is $9.00/hour

    Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies. Our courses are designed to arm you with the

    skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. You will learn how to quickly

    respond to emergencies both in the water and on land. You will also be trained on drowning and injury prevention, so

    you can better help those in need. Lifeguard certification classes require and online course to be completed prior to the

    Already certified? Lifeguard certifications are valid for 2 years. To maintain your certification you must take a lifeguard review course no later than 30 days after your expiration date. After 30 days you will need to take the full

    certification course to be eligible to work as a lifeguard.
