Yellow Jacket PrideInternational Baccalaureate (IB) Program
At FHS, we are proud to offer two world-class education IB programs
Grades 6-10 we offer the Middle Years Program (MYP). The MYP focuses on teaching the
whole child while preparing students for the rigours of the Diploma Program (DP).
Grades 11-12- Diploma Program (DP) offers a more precise preparation for the IB exams that
students must take each May.
Teaching and Learning Community (TLC)
A program to help students become college and career ready by graduation.
The goal is to make it to a four year university right after high school.
Students also have the opportunity to attend College fieldtrips and volunteer at other school
sites

Students can participate in 5 specialty pathways:
Performing Arts
Production and Managerial Arts
Building trades
Welding and Materials Joining
Product Innovation and Design
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)
Educational program that is sponsored by each of the federal military components (Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force)
Offered in over 3,000 high schools around the country
Produces successful students and citizens, through a more constructive and disciplined learning environment.
This program makes substantial contributions to students, schools, and communities by
teaching character, achievement, leadership, and diversity.

As of now, we will be in 100% Distance Learning until further notice.
We will update you as we receive information via automated voice call
Parents will also have access to district supports to guide them in monitoring their student’s progress.

Check StudentVue for your classes. If you don’t have access to your StudentVUE
account, email your counselor. Counselors can reset and do the initial set up for
accounts.
If you don’t have access to your student email account, please email Mrs. Valleza at
[email protected]. She will reset it for you.
All classes will be set up in Google Classroom. To access your classes online, go to
www.TheFranklinHS.com and click on the distance learning tab or click Distance
Learning here, scroll down, find and click your subject, find your instructor, the
class period, then click on the Google Classroom link. You will just need your
student ID and password (same as student email account) to get in.

Distance Learning cont. Distance Learning will be different this year. You will have specific instructional
minutes that have to be accounted for including time interacting with your
teachers and with assignments/assessments completed.
The state has laid out these guidelines in AB77
Requires live interaction with students
Attendance required for each period, each day
240 minutes of daily instructional minutes (including assignments) is required.
Assignments and assessments are fully weighted for grading. A passing grade is
required to earn credits.
Block Schedule

Students and teachers follow a block schedule, which allows students to only focus on four classes at a time instead of the traditional 6 course schedule.
Classes are longer in minutes to allow for more in-depth discussion and minimal transition periods.
This schedule allows students to take more classes during their high school career and allows for flexibility in taking Delta College classes or early release/late start for students in their junior and senior year.

When can I pick up a Chromebook? 9th grade: July 28th by last name and time
6th & other grades: July 31st by last name and time
Details will be sent out via email and automated voice call by Sunday, July 26th ,
with a reminder the morning of the 28th .

When can I pick up my textbooks? Distribution will start in the week of August 10th

When do I take my yearbook and ID picture?
Senior pictures will be scheduled by appointment, 9/14-9/25 (tentative)
Pictures are scheduled for Sept 22 and 23rd (tentative)

How can I get info when school isn’t open?
Email, social media, website and phone (see slide 20)
The main office is also open Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-3pm each day.
You must wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines whenever on campus - even when school is back in session.

This application will help parents stay informed and connected by providing day-to-day insight into your child’s academic experience. You must have an active email address to register and access ParentVUE
Learn to navigate your way through the SUSD parent portal to:• Access grades, quizzes, and/or exams• Check daily attendance• Review credits• Communicate via email with school staff
