In order to connect to your phone, your carry-on should be switched ON.

Some suitcases might be switched OFF coming from the factory.

The suitcase On/Off switch is underneath the innermost lining, and the switch should be moved to the right-most position.

2. Go to the app

Once your carry-on is charged, go to the app, and tap “Connect to carry-on”. Your phone will start searching for your suitcase.

Tip: Get the app at: bluesmart.com/app

1. Charge your carry-on

Plug to an outlet for a minimum of 30 minutes. For best performance, keep charging until fully charged. Use the included USB charging cable with any 5V-2.1A USB adaptor (not included).

Tip: any phone charger will do the trick.

3. Connect to your suitcase

Press the back button on your carry-on to awaken it. Your carry-on will now appear in your app. Just tap to connect!

1. Get the bluesmart app.

2. Sign up for an account.

3. Press the “PAIR NOW” button.

4. Press the black button at the back to activate your carry-on’s Bluetooth conectivity.

5. Select the carry-on code that appears.

8. If disconnected, press the black button at the back to re-activate your Bluetooth connection.

6. The front light will flash Blue.

7. You are already to use your carry-on.

How to awaken your carry-on

Just press the back button, behind the telescopic trolley system. A blue light should flash on the top LED indicator. That means your suitcase is now awake. You will need to awaken your suitcase if you want to connect to the app.

How to put your carry-on in sleep mode

Your carry-on goes to sleep automatically after 5 mins of being disconnected from your phone. Main reason is for the carry-on to save battery (when sleep, your carry-on can last up to 30 days). After 5 min, in order to reconnect to your phone, you will need to awaken your carry-on.

1. Lift the handle to locate the back USB port.

2. Open the front compartment to locatate the front USB port.

2.3 How to charge your carry-on

2. Lift the handle to locate the micro USB port at the back.

3. Plug in the micro USB.

*The USB charger is not included. Please use your cellphone USB adaptor to charge the carry-on (5V-2.1A)

If you have the “Auto lock” feature turned on, your suitcase will automatically lock when you get outside Bluetooth range. This feature is designed to give you peace of mind so that you can rest assured that your belongings are secure if they are out of range.

If you have the “Auto unlock” feature turned on, your suitcase will automatically unlock when you are nearby. This feature is designed to make access to your suitcase easier so that you don’t have to pull out your phone when you want to get something from your bag.

Locking/Unlocking: How do I open my Bluesmart if it is out of battery or if I lose my phone?No need to worry! Your Bluesmart comes with a unique key that you can use to open your suitcase if needed. When you receive your Bluesmart, you will find the key in the outside front pocket. The Bluesmart Travel Sentry® Approved Lock is accepted by the TSA.

Depending on which connector you use, it might take from 5 to 10 hrs to fully charge, not bad for a battery that can last up to one month on intense use.

3.4 What size laptop can fit in the laptop compartment?

The outside compartment of the Bluesmart carry-on is able to accommodate laptops with screens that are up to 15.4”. The compartment also has a separate pocket for tablet devices.

3.5 Do I have to set my Bluesmart on flight mode, and how do I do it?

Currently as it stands you would not need to switch into airplane mode in USA or europe. Regulations are constantly changing so it’s hard to be sure about the future, and in some places where regulations are more strict it may be required. No worries, it can be done from your phone easily.

Bluesmart works anywhere in the world! It does not depend on any third party network in order to work properly.

4.1 Transfer carry-on ownership

1. An email must be sent from the current owner of the carry-on (you must use the same email address as the one you used for your account).

2. In the content, include “Transfer ownership of my carry-on to [email protected]”, making sure the new email belongs to the person you intend to grant access to.

3. You will receive a confirmation email.

4. To confirm, all you need to do is reply with a simple “YES”!

Once ownership has been transferred, the new user will be notified via email.

NOTe: By transferring ownership, you will lose all access to your carry-on.

Transferring Ownership:

You can give full access to another user to control your carry-on, including all smart features. In order to get the suitcase back, the new owner will have to transfer the ownership back to you.

Shared Access:

Currently we are working to implement this feature within the app, allowing you to share access to your carry-on with another user. The suitcase will remain yours and you can add to remove users at anytime.

4.2 How can I locate my Bluesmart suitcase if I lose it?

If you are not within Bluetooth range of your suitcase, you must designate your Bluesmart suitcase as “lost” via the mobile app. When you designate your Bluesmart suitcase as “lost,” our servers notify other Bluesmart app users to scan their locations for your suitcase. The moment another user detects your suitcase’s location, you are notified of its whereabouts.

4.3 What phones and devices will work with Bluesmart?

Bluesmart will work with iOS and Android at launch. At this time, we will not be supporting other mobile operating systems. And for those with new Apple watches, know that we are working on a Watch app as well!

4.4 What is the range of the proximity sensor?

The Bluetooth signal range is about (60m) without interferences. At the airport or normal conditions this would be around (30m), which is more than enough to receive alerts!

4.5 Does Bluesmart use GPS?Yes, Bluesmart contains a GPS module that allows you to constantly record the position of the suitcase, monitoring and registering the location of the suitcase at every moment.

We have done our due diligence making sure that the suitcase complies with travel industry standards. We have flown with prototypes all over the world many times, and we have never experienced any problems. We’ve gone through airport security like a breeze!

We have a strong policy regarding users privacy. All data belongs to the users and not us. The user can delete or share the data whenever he wants without limitations. We pledge that we will not collect and/or share any type of data with out your previous consent. The user may opt to change any setting at any time without limitations.

To assure that the information is secure we follow industry standards. These standards are the same used by banks, and popular services. Basically all your data and communication with our servers is encrypted and the user is the only one with access to the encryption/decryption keys. We will monitor on real time for unknown devices trying to access data.
