What is French?French at King’s is so much more than a language. It is a cultural expedition, an experience of interactions and communications with the rest of the world, an exploration of arts, literature and film in the Francophone context. The French program at King’s prepares students for exchanging opinions and communicating freely in a globalized world. Students who graduate from the French program at King’s with a qualifying average are offered guaranteed admission to Western’s Faculty of Education.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

�� A full range of French degree modules, including Honours Specialization in French Language and Literature, Specialization in French, Major in French, and Minor in French; French modules can be combined with modules in other disciplines

�� Students who graduate from the French program at King’s with a qualifying average are offered guaranteed admission to the Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate or Intermediate/Senior stream at Western’s Faculty of Education

�� Exchange program at the Université Catholique de Lille, with grants and bursaries offered to qualifying students

�� French immersion program, with courses in Trois-Pistoles, Québec, during five- week intersession and summer sessions

�� Free peer tutoring programme is also provided for students who would like additional review and practice to perfect their French language skills

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The French Language and Literature Program at King’s is designed to foster an appreciation of the various literatures and cultures of la Francophonie as well as to develop a variety of skills that will serve you well in the future. We offer a range of language and literature courses to help you hone your language, communication, and research skills.

Our small classes provide an excellent opportunity for you to interact with your classmates and your professors.

I also do freelance translation, which I started doing while living in France for a year.
