A brief history of Fremantle Hash

Fremantle hash was formed in early 2004 by Toy Boy and many of the original

group were from Rocky City Hash. The first run was from Toy Boy’s home in Ellen

St., Fremantle on 14th Jan 2004, and there were over 100 runners, and most of

Rocky City Hash was there. The second run was also from Toy Boy’s place.

Headlights and Ah Sup started hashing on Run #2. Some of the hares you will

know from the 1st year were Headlights, Xray, Puddles Ah Sup and (old) Skippy.

We haven’t yet traced the 2004 and 2005 committees, but the 2006 committee was --- Toy Boy

(GM) Headlights, Cumming, X-Ray, Ah-sup, Binlookin, Xterminator, Puddles, Tin Tin,

Shaggy and Double Entry. Run numbers were dropping in 2005, and there were less than 10

runners at times. Next years year book may present the results of more delving into Freo hash

history.

In 2015-16, our main events were the 600th run, the Close-to-your-heart charity run, and the Sky

Show river cruise, all largely organised by Screwie and Butless, and all were great successes.

The 600th run was held at the South St. Ale House, and many of our runners from previous years

came along. The Close To Your Heart run took the place of the Doctors and Nurses run this year,

and we had 169 hashers attend, and we donated $3,190 to the Heart Foundation. We filled the

boat for the sky-show cruise this year, and a small profit was made, to offset the small loss we

made last year. Club membership stands at 46.
