KEY FEATURES

StarMIMO multi-probe measurement system
What I like about WaveStudio:
ˮ It frees you from having to enter the chamber and making the connection for each single measurement. Now you can prepare several measurements beforehand and with one click on Start, they automatically run one after another, in a row. Mike, USA
I like the batch capability and the ability to repeat the offset measurement. Yanli, China
I like the new interface! Eivind, USAˮˮ

FLEXIBILITY FOR THE TEAM
• Prepare batches and view results on several PCs using the free viewer.
• Prepare batches on one PC while a measurement is in progress on another.
FLEXIBILITY IN VIEWING RESULTS
• View plots in parallel.• Make comparisons between different batches.• Externalize result plots for further analysis, documentation,
printing, etc.
FLEXIBILITY IN THE INTERFACE
• Start easily with the user-friendly interface. The software is more intuitive than ever.
• Use tabs and menus with familiar Windows GUI to navigate and select operations.
• Advance through the set-up steps with ease. Help and warning icons pop up to assist you when selections seem questionable, impossible, or may lead to error.
• Arrange and rearrange the sequence of measurements as you wish.
3 MODULES FOR MORE FLEXIBILITY
1) The free pre-processing moduleThe pre-processing module is free to download onto any PC. This module of WaveStudio allows for the preparation and saving of test batches and projects.
2) The licensed measurement software moduleTo complete a measurement, you’ll need the full licensed measurement module of WaveStudio. This module allows for the comprehensive data acquisition and analysis of automated OTA measurements. It also comprises post- processing capabilities and the possibility to generate reports for standard body requirements such as CTIA.
3) The free results-viewer moduleThis module is also free to download onto any PC. It allows users to view the measurement results. Different results can be viewed on different PCs for comparison.
Exporting
Data can be exported in different formats. The user can adjust the file content, for example, separate data according to parameters, or save only a part of the measurement. Reports can be automatically generated in many formats supported by Windows. The content and lay out of the format can be adapted to specific requirements, such as CTIA certification reports. Data can also be exported to SATENV.

Search Filters For a CTIA project, you can have up to 300 measurements to sort through. Filters are great for fast retrieval of the ones you want to specifically review.
Easy!
Running a test is as simple as 1,2,3: Enter the type of DUT you’d like to measure, select what you want to test, the standard, the frequency band, and the measurement type and either save or click START for results in seconds. All acquired data is automatically stored in a project file. The advanced back-up process will recover all files and automatically present them to the user if necessary.
WaveStudio brings significant flexibility in the measurement process. Flexibility is needed to do what is wanted when it is wanted. The more flexibility you have, the more comfortable and the more in control you are of the management of the test process.

GAIN TIME WITH OFFSETS
Use offset measurements for fast repeatability and end results by taking advantage of common frequencies among the different protocols, or identical Tx/Rx frequencies.
GAIN TIME WITH PREDICTIVE ALGORITHMS
Expect the predictive algorithms to speed up the measure-ment process as they rapidly and automatically determine what will be the next point to measure.
WaveStudio allows for more efficient testing, which amounts to more measurements in a shorter time frame. As a result, your investment in existing test equipment is optimized.
Testing and validating the quality and efficiency of its com-munication capabilities is an essential part of the deve-lopment process of any wireless device. Much time can be spent in testing, making adjustments, retesting and so forth. Outsourcing these tests is an option with its pros and cons. With MVG’s multi-probe technology and WaveStudio OTA automation software, approved and certifiable by CTIA, these tests can be performed quickly and effectively in house, optimizing test lab operations, increasing test through-put and ultimately gaining overall time to market for your device.
GAIN 30% IN OVERALL PROCESS TIME
Optimize the use of standalone or combined features to organize a more efficient test process. WaveStudio automation capabilities minimize the number of measure-ment configuration changes necessary. Preparation and measurements can take place on separate PCs so you can move on to the preparation of the next set of batches as a sequence of measurements is underway on the first. Batches can also be modified on the measurment PC while a project is running.Set up a measurement quickly and easily. Test batches can be prepared within minutes, then the measurement can either be launched, or can be saved to a project file for later.
WaveStudio generates results at increasingly faster rates. New algorithms in addition to the flexibility of the user interface work together to create more efficiency in the entire measurement process. All results are obtained using either fully-compliant CTIA methodologies, or MVG’s proprietary fast measurement algorithms.
Ask the expert: Advanced algorithms?
WaveStudio allows you to use offsets for fast and accuraterepeatability. For example, if you want to test GSM, GPRS or EDGE, these protocols typically use the same antenna and share the same frequencies, so all you have to do is measure the 3D pattern in one of the protocols and then take a few measurement points from this pattern, transfer them into another protocol and then normalize the data between the two measurements. So, if the TRP test time is 2 minutes for a GSM measurement, you simply need to measure a couple of points from that one measurement for a measurement in EDGE, so the test time for this second TRP comes to somewhere between 0 and 20 seconds. You see that this a much faster approach than making a completely separate measurement for each protocol. Cumulatively, this methodology can save a lot of time!

TIS – TOTAL ISOTROPIC SENSITIVITY
TIS is a figure of merit for the overall radiated sensitivity of awireless terminal in a radiated environment. TIS representsthe lowest signal level with which a device would be able tooperate if it received the same signal from all directions in a360 degree sphere. TIS is convenient because it is a singlemetric that represents the overall radiated sensitivity per-formance of the device, making benchmarking devices against each other much easier.A method to reduce TIS measurement time is based on the Rx level. This method uses the DUT receiver as a power meter with certain communication protocols (like GSM andWCDMA). From each measurement point on the mea-surement sphere, a constant power is radiated towards the DUT. The DUT receiver then reports back its received power level and the complete spherical set of power level data can be referenced to a single-point EIS measurement to determine the TIS.
TRP – TOTAL RADIATED POWER
TRP is the total RF channel power radiated by a wireless terminal in an OTA configuration. It is calculated by integra-ting the measured Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) data over the measurement sphere. Measurement time of TRP can be reduced to less than 2 minutes for all 3 channels with WaveStudio, an MVG multi-probe system, and appro-priate radio communications tester. With WaveStudio, the EIRP is measured every 15 degrees in both elevation and azimuth, at a minimum. This accounts for a total of 1656 measurement points (23 elevations x 12 azimuths, x 2 pola-rizations x 3 frequencies) , resulting in a total measurement time of about 2 minutes or less, depending on the protocol measured.
When used in conjunction with an anechoic chamber and required instrumentation, MVG multi-probe systems are compliant with the standards specified for CTIA certification of wireless devices. TIS and TRP have become increasingly important in quantifying OTA performance of wireless devices. The CTIA and other wireless commu-nications standard bodies continue to establish regulations based on methods with these metrics as reference.
