QUILT ASSEMBLY:Refer to diagram on the following page. 1. Layout 10" squares, D 2" x 10" sashing strips in diagonal rows as shown in quilt diagram. Sew (7) block rows together and press toward blocks.

2. Layout D 2" x 10" sashing strips and B and C 2" squares in diagonal rows as shown in quilt diagram. Sew (6) sashing rows together and press toward sashing strips.

3. Sew rows and sashing rows together, nesting seams to match to make quilt center.

4. Referring to diagram, trim edge blocks to square quilt, leaving 1/4" seam allowance to add borders.

5. Fold the quilt center in half side to side and mark the center on top and bottom of quilt. Repeat to mark center on both sides of the quilt center.

BORDERS:6. Sew (2) D 11/2 " x WOF strips together at short ends. Repeat to make a total of (4) side border sets. Trim strips to 81" length.

7. Sew (2) D 11/2 " x WOF strips together at short ends. Repeat to make a total of (4) top/bottom border sets. Trim strips to 68" length.

8. Mark the center of all border lengths, including fussy cut floral borders, on both edges.

9. With right sides together and matching centers, sew (1) top/bot-tom border set to each side of (1) fussy cut 6 1/2" x 68" Border #2. Press seams to outer borders. Repeat to make a second top/bottom border set.

10. With right sides together and matching centers, sew (1) side border set to each side of (1) fussy cut 6 1/2" x 81" Border #2. Press seams to outer borders. Trim excess D borders to match E fussy cut border. Repeat to make a second side border set.

11. With right sides together and matching centers, pin in place and sew (1) top/bottom border set to the top edge of the quilt center, starting and stopping a generous 1/4" from each end. Repeat for the bottom edge of quilt center.

12. With right sides together and matching centers, pin in place and sew (1) side border set to the right side of the quilt center, starting and stopping a gen-erous 1/4" from each end. Repeat for the left side of quilt center.

13. Once the strips have been sewn to the quilt center ~refer to diagram below~ fold the quilt at one corner, right sides together, aligning raw edges of quilt center top and side as well as borders. Draw a line from the quilt center corner out to the edge of the border strip set, extending the diagonal line of the folded quilt center. Sew on that line, trim the excess fabric 1/4" from seam. Open and press border flat. Repeat this process for the remaining three corners. If needed, go back and finish side seams to the corners.

FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3" larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual. Note: If this Benartex pattern is included in a kit, any questions about the kit should be addressed to the vendor from whom you bought it.
