The competition was open to any 4th or 5th grader from Little Mountain and Pinewood Elementary schools. Thirty-three recipes were sub- mitted and eight recipes were chosen for the cook-off. Four recipes were chosen from Little Mountain and four recipes from Pinewood. All recipes were delicious. The Lettuce Satay Wraps prepared by Brody Drong, 4th Grader at Little Mountain was the winning recipe . Congratulations, Future Chef, Brody Drong! MCA TESTING April and May are state testing months. Below are some tips for parents to prepare students for these tests. 1. Ensure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast. 2. Read to and with your child often. 3. Write notes of encourage- ment to your child. 4. Schedule appointments out- side of the school day. 5. Make every effort to have your child in school and prepared for the MCA’s. THANK YOU!

Please remember to make transportation arrangements for the Early Dismissal day.
5th Grade Instrument Dates
Tuesday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m.: Sign up for instrument trial time during 6th Grade Registration
Friday, April 27th-Wednesday, May 2nd: Instrument trials take place at Little Mountain. All 5th graders interested in playing an instrument in band or orchestra must attend a trial time for sizing and introductions of the instruments. Thursday, May 3rd 4:00-7:00 p.m.: Instrument Rental Night at Monticello Middle School.

6th Grade Registration Meeting
All parents and students entering 6th grade next fall
(2018-2019 school year) are encouraged to attend the
orientation meeting on Tuesday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m.
in the Middle School Auditorium.
Topics covered include: Introduction of music programs
Instrument trial sign up
Grade 6 registration
Immunization information
Student Activities
The meeting will last about 1 hour. If you have any

“Squirm” on Friday, April 13th at
2:00 p.m.
Are your children dressed for the weather?
Minnesota weather changes often in the Spring so
it is important to make sure our children are pre-
pared for going outside. Little Mountain students
go outside for recess and occasionally during gym
class. Appropriate clothing for the weather is essen-
tial for keeping our students comfortable while out-
