In a series of revelations to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s, our Lord called for a special feast day to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Today, we know that feast as Divine Mercy Sunday, so named by St. John Paul II at the canonization of St. Faustina on April 30, 2000.

Divine Mercy Sunday Devotion 3:00pm April 28

The Main Church

The Devotion includes *Veneration of the Mercy Image

*The Holy Rosary *Chaplet of the Divine Mercy

*Confession *Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

*Recitation of St. Faustina’s Praises of the Divine Mercy *St. Faustina’s Prayers for a Merciful Heart

The Lord expressed His will with regard to this feast in His very first revelation to St. Faustina:

". . . tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and

shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those

souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that goes to Confession & receives

Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.

On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened.

Let no soul fear to draw near to Me . . . “ St. Faustina’s Diary #699

www.thedivinemercy.org/celebrate/greatgrace/

I am happy to see you are reading

this, I wrote it just for you.

Here are two recent incidents I experienced for you to

reflect on where you are today.

A Happy Widow

As I was talking to a woman after her husband's funeral,

she told me she was devastated by her husband's sudden

death and had felt the need to turn to the Church for his

burial despite her family not going to Mass for over a

decade. The woman told me, “You conducted the burial

service without asking me any questions. I realized and

felt just as God called my husband to heaven God was

calling me too. Calling me to return to the Church. I am

happy to return now.” Through this call she discovered

she has hope.

A Great Lunch

I went out for lunch to an Indian restaurant with a Cradle

Catholic of another town. During a wonderful lunch,

which he thought would be too spicy; he began to pour

out frustration of his faith and church. “How is the food?”

I asked. He replied "Great! I loved it and enjoyed it." I

said to him "You loved your food because you ate it. If

you have not eaten it but have seen it, you would not

have loved it for your fear that it would be too spicy.

Unless you become active in living and loving your faith,

it will continue to be frustrating and hard.” He left the

restaurant with a determination to enjoy his faith and

become a more active Catholic.

Easter reminds us that we can rise to whatever situation

we are in with the power of God. As a sign of our trust,

we need to stretch out our hand for him to hold just as

the widow and the Cradle Catholic did.

Happy Easter to you, your family and friends.

The Stations of the Resurrection or Via Lucis is a beautiful devotion brought back into the hearts and lives of Catholics around the world by St. John Paul II. The Via Lucis, like the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross), has 14 stations for reflection and

prayer. These stations depict the resurrection of Jesus, his appearances afterward and ends with his sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

A first class relic of St. Faustin with relics from St. Padre Pio, St. Anthony, St. Michael and Blessed Seelos will be at St. Philip for veneration and to touch holy items to them.

11:00am Talk on Divine Mercy 12:00pm Divine Mercy Chaplet 1:00pm Rosary for the Conversion of Sinners

‘God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured

and the evil spirits left them.’ Acts 19:11-12
