SPECIALTY PROGRAM REGISTRATION Fraser Valley Rec continues to offer programming at all district facilities, including GPCRC. Please reference the activity guide for further details. This programming remains separate from recreation center memberships with the standard in-district and out-of-district rates. However, there will be discounts offered to recreation center members for some fitness, aquatics and gymnastic classes offered at the recreation center. Registrations for classes and programs are taken during business hours by phone, on-line, or in-person, and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Internet registration is available 24 hours a day at www.fraservalleyrec.org. Payment MUST be made at time of registration. Outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to new registrations.AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM REGISTRATION Prior to registering your child for the afterschool program, all necessary forms must be completed through CampDocs. Please contact the GPCRC Front Desk Staff or Leigh Edwards at [email protected], 970-726-8968 x108 to complete these forms. We look forward to seeing you! YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR CHILD IN ADVANCE FOR THE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM TO ENSURE A SPOT FOR YOUR CHILD. IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT PRE-REGISTERED, WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR CHILD. This ensures the safety of the children attending our programs and also ensures appropriate staffing for varying group sizes. Pre-registration for the afterschool program is defined as registering any time before midnight the day prior to their planned attendance ($6). If you register the “day of” the price will be $8. Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance will receive a household credit. Thank you for your help. Once you are logged into the system, you can search our database by a few different avenues: keyword, age, gender, or activity number. Once you have found the appropriate class, you click the “cart” symbol. Next select the family member that you wish to register and then click “Add to Cart”. Swim Club - Minnows Youngsters that are interested in getting more comfortable in the water are invited to join the entry level of the After School Swim Club. The group is meant for kids in the skill levels of 1-3 in the Learn to Swim program. We encourage that all participants be comfortable in the water and prefer that they have done at least one session of regular swimming lessons; however, this is not a requirement. The sessions are one hour in length, with the last 15 to 10 minutes set aside for play! There is a little of everything: Stroke Refinement, Personal Survival, Team Games, Buoyancy and Diving and the always popular playtime! Each session will be a different game to pique the participants interest. During the course, sessions will seek to improve the basic strokes and water skills as well as introduce more advanced techniques with safety and confidence in the water remaining a priority. Functional Movement Screen The Functional Movement Screen is an assessment that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By assessing these patterns, the FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. The FMS score is used to track progress and identify those exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength. Instructors: John Florkiewicz and Lucy Lozar
