TOGETHER WE LEARN Student Voice Chloe Weir and Will Turner are our intrepid reporters writing for Student Voice this week. Will: My name is Will Turner and I visited Cook Kindergarten class as part of my Student Voice report. Haylee was getting ready to have her ‘crunch ‘n sip’ when I visited. Haylee loves making new friends at school and the gym equipment is her favourite thing to play on. Darcy showed me how to build towers with blocks in his room. I showed Eddie where the bikes will go when he old enough to ride his bike to school. Eddie thinks the best thing about school is playing and learning about numbers. Chloe: My name is Chloe Weir and I am reporting for Student Voice this week. Kindergarten have just had their first week at ‘big school’. I remember having Gabi Davis as my buddy in Kindergarten. She helped me settle in to school by being helpful and friendly. I decided to ask my buddies what they thought of their first week at Franklin. Maddison said she loves playing in the sandpit and her favourite thing to do is building sandcastles. Evie loves the gym equipment. I have seen her playing and she is like a little monkey there. Evie said she likes it when I help her get her food out of her bag for lunch and recess. Evie and Sadie showed me where they hang their bag each morning. Sadie said she loves the big Franklin playground and she loves reading books in class.

CELEBRATING FRANKLIN!
TOGETHER WE LEARN
Franklin Buddies 2020 At Franklin Public School we have a buddy program for our new Kinder-
garten students. This pairs up a Kindergarten student with a Year 6 stu-
dent who will help them adjust to life at ‘Big School’. Students sit with
their buddy at recess and lunch and are encouraged to show the Kin-
dergarten students how to play safely in the playground and also help
them learn the school PBL values. This helps Kindergarten students set-
tle in and feel safe, making coming to school less daunting for them.
Swimming Carnival
The swimming carnival was a great success, student participation level was high and it was
especially pleasing to see and hear the students supporting each other as they gave their
all in the pool.
The carnival could not have been a success without the support from the many parents
and friends who volunteered as timekeepers. All staff were involved in the smooth running
of events– mention to Mr Reddy, Ms Rampling and Mrs Somerville who organised a great
day at the pool.
We were delighted to have two Police Officers from Sydney volunteer to help out at the
carnival. Senior Constables Brad James and Richard Griffin are in Tumut as part of the re-
sponse team for the recent bushfires and were keen to help out. As well as timekeeping
the officers enjoyed getting to know staff, parents and students.
We would like to thank Narelle Buckingham and her staff for use of the pool and it’s facili-
ties and also thank you to Tumut Swimming Club for use of their club house.
Snowy was the winning house on the day. GO SNOWY!

Tumut Schools As Community Centre
Last week was our first week of playgroups for 2020 and it was mazing to see so many smiling faces. The children
explored the Native Australian animal small world play station and learned some names in Wiradjuri language. The new
mud kitchen was loved by all and the sensory garden corner inspired children to plant seeds, water and care for them.
All of our playgroups are FREE! For more information please contact Laura at the SACC on 6947 6961.

Kindergarten Sporting Houses
All Kindergarten students were put into their sporting houses last week.
Parents can now identify which coloured house their child is in and purchase a sporting polo shirt in the
correct colour.
Franklin kindergarten 2020
Our new Kindergarten students have settled in nicely last week. Each student has met their teacher, found friends in their
classroom, been paired with their buddy and are starting to learn about our core values and rules at Franklin Public
School. Our staff try very hard to make the classroom and school experience a positive one for your children and we wel-
come them to the Franklin family.
