HU-Account• no cost • more access conditions (or authorisation ) to HU‘s services• e-mail, personal homepage (500MB)• WLAN, VPN, AGNES• Moodle (e-Learning- und Kommunikationsplattform) • utilisation of resources (application software), programs

such as MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat in the University

• antivirus-software: McAfee VirusScan, also at home


HU-Account

(other terms: Benutzerkennzeichen, Login)• You need your PIN to create your HU-account!

• Is valid only for the current semester (however with

inscription office automatically extended) • Password MUST be changed once in the year (your first

initial password must be changed within 6 weeks)


HU-AccountPIN is required for the

creation of your account and– If your account locked

(e.g. you have not changed the password)

– If you forget the password


E-Mail• address form:

• Second e-mail address can be changed after clearance (in

tuning) with the CMS • E-Mail forwarding

• Absence notification is possible


E-Mail• You can check the e-mail („abfrage“) over:

– Online form: Squirrel-Mail / RoundCube

– Various email programs such as Thunderbird, Outlook Express,...

(facility guidances over the most common in the Web) – Unix accession (amor.cms.hu-berlin.de)

• Each e-mail with appendices of maximally 10MB and max. 100 recipients


WLAN• Valid account (also „Informatik“, „Mathematik“,

„physik“) is necessary for the use of WLAN

• Most current driver for the WLAN Card• Possible it is to rent a wlan card (PCMCIA)• Detailed guidance on the web pages of the CMS


VPN By using VPN it is possibility to access internal network

of the HU from an external network or via WLAN (SSID HU-VPN), you have access to internal data, e.g. digital magazines, HU-Internal...)

Necessary:• Valid HU-account (or mathematics or computer science account) • You can get the VPN software and configuration file in the CMS • Detailed guidance on the web pages of the CMS
