FEW WORDS ABOUT ME & MY FAMILY

● My name is Jan Premk. I was born on 25 of July, 1996, so I am 14 years old.

● I come from a small and young country Slovenia.

● At school I'm in 9th grade and after finishing it, I'd like to go to High school for tourism. I'm also interested in acting.

● In my free time I'm listening to music, hanging out with my friends and playing computer games.

● There are 4 members in my family: father Stojan, mother Tina, sister Zarja Maja and myself.

ABOUT MY HOMETOWN MEDVODE

● We live in a village called Sora, which is a part of Medvode community.

● Medvode city is located on the meeting point of two rivers Sora and Sava, the translation of the word Medvode is between waters and the town got it's name from that.

● An important traffic road is running through Medvode and it connects the capitol of Slovenia Ljubljana with Gorenjska region.

● The city of Medvode counts 15220 residents.

THE SIGHTS OF MEDVODE● One of the Medvode sights is the

baroque mansion of Goričane. It was built in 17th century and it was The museum of the noneuropean cultures until 21st century.

● The Lake of Zbilje is also very popular destination for residents and tourists. It's an artificial lake. You can rent a boat, feed the swans or just enjoy a beautiful nature.

ABOUT SLOVENIA● Slovenia lies in the heart of Europe,

where the Alps meet the Meditteranean. This small green country measures only 20.273 square kilometers, but we can swim in the Adriatic sea and ski on the snow o Adriatic sea and ski on our beautiful mountains.

● Half of Slovenia is covered with woods ( only Finland & Sweden have more woods of all countries in Europe).

● On the map, my country looks like a han. Our west neighbour is Italy, north neighbour is Austria, on the north-east lies Hungary and Croatia is on the south-east.

● The capitol of Slovenia is Ljubljana. The offici language is Slovenian and it is known as one of the hardest languages to learn. Our anthem is called Zdravljica and it's the only anthem which is also a toast.

● Slovenia is devided on 7 regions, I come from the Gorenjska region

● Slovenia has 2.049,261 residents.

SIGHTS OF SLOVENIA● Our highest mountain is Triglav,

it's 2.864 m high.

● The greatest sight is defenatly The Lake of Bled whit a little island in the middle of the lake. On the rock above the lake stands the Bled castle.

● Tourists attraction is a boat called pletna and it takes you from the lake coast to the island of Bled.

● After sight-seeing, you can eat a really good cake, called kremšnita.

● A great tourist sight is also The cave of Postojna. It's most known resident is Proteus.

● In 13th century the wall drawings and inscriptions were found in the cave.

● During the 2nd world war, the german army was using the cave for fuel storage, so the airforces wouldn't destroy it. The partisans blew up the storage in 1944. The great fire was burning for a whole week.The soots covered the cave walls and have prevented the growth of new speleothems. Even today you can still see the black walls in the cave.
