This weekend most of us will either be spending time with our mothers, phoning them and/or praying for them. At times, the busyness of our lives can dull our awareness of the gift of significant people in our lives. Some times, we may even be tempted to take them for granted. This special date on the Canadian civic calendar is a reminder to us to think about, to pray for and to do what is appropriate in our own circumstances for our beloved mothers. Perhaps even to forgive or to be forgiven by our mother, is part of the grace of this special occasion. Lord God, you have given each of us a mother, to reveal to us your unconditional love and care. Several hundred parishioners have been participating in either/or both of the WhyCatholic? and Alpha sessions during the recent Lenten season. These days, they have been gathering once again to celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit in their respective groups. This coming fall, WhyCatholic? will gather for 12 straight weeks starting in September, to study the moral teachings of the Church. Four of us of Holy Family Parish, participated in the “LC17” (Leadership Conference) in London, England, earlier this month. We gathered with some 7,000 other participants representing countries on every continent. Most significantly for us, it was an affirmation of our decision to use Alpha as the primary transformational instrument for our parish. The Bishop of one of the Columbian dioceses, has mandated its use in every parish. All diocesan priests and parish leaders there have participated already. A diocesan team has been set up to assist parishes in need of implementing Alpha at the parish level. Alpha serves a specific role in our own parish planning. Participants are introduced to the person of Jesus Christ and are invited to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives, in an ongoing basis. Other transformation processes offer a similar opportunity, i.e., Cursillo, Life in the Spirit Seminars, Steubenville conferences, etc. Other components of the our pastoral plan include catechesis, and faith formation, and small cont’d on next page...

St. Vincent de Paul Bundle Sunday is next weekend, May 20th & 21st. Springtime! It’s a perfect time to clean out your cupboards and closets. Your donations supply much needed

inventory for our two thrift stores. The SSVP truck will be available for donations next weekend in our parking lot. Donations will be accepted before and after these masses: Saturday 5:00 pm, Sunday morning 8:30 and 10:30 am. Items for the 6:30 pm will be accepted before Mass only. Donations may include:

● Gently used clothing. Please donate only clothing that is wearable. Merchandise with stains, tears and odors like cigarette smoke cannot be sold. ● Household items in good condition ● Small electrical appliances in good condition: toasters, microwave ovens, kettles ● Antiques and collectibles, jewellery and toys

There is a strong need for the following items as inventory is very low: children’s clothing, men’s clothing especially summer wear, footwear, bedding of all sizes, bath towels, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and lamps. For furniture in good condition call the Thrift Store at (519) 438-7071 to schedule a pick up. Unfortunately, major appliances, sofa beds, mattresses and box springs cannot be accepted. For more information about donations and furniture pick up visit the St. Vincent de Paul website: SSVPLondon.com. Pick up is scheduled every Tuesday in our area.

Christian faith community experiences and groups. The hope of the pastoral plan is to strongly encourage members to become intentional disciples, parishioners who know and love Jesus enough to surrender their lives to his will and to give their lives in service of their parish and beyond. Intentional disciples are willing to share their faith with family, friends and co-workers. They know that a life lived and shared in Jesus is the only way to respond to Jesus’ command to the Apostles to “make disciples of all nations!” We are about making disciples of everyone who calls themselves members of Holy Family Parish. Come, Holy Spirit! Senior Leadership Team Planning Days and Diocesan Leadership Study Days. The end of May is taken up with a number of days when Mass will be cancelled here at Holy Family, because Fr. Seejo and I will be participating in our parish planning days and also in the diocesan study days. Accordingly, Mass will be cancelled on the following dates: May 22, 23 and 30, 31. Please hold our parish leadership and the diocesan leadership in your prayers!

Children receiving Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist. We continue to welcome to our weekend liturgies, children receiving the Eucharist for the first time, this weekend and next weekend. Their presence with us, along with their family members and friends,

brings so much joy! It is wonderful to observe younger members of our community maturing in their faith, feeding on the Body and Blood of Jesus, who offers himself as food for the hungry soul. Is your soul hungry for the Lord? Thank you, faithful parishioners, for making our young families and their guests feel welcome and special with us!
