International Doctoral Programme in Biological Bases of Human Diseases
Beneficiary: Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences,
POLAND
Project objective: Bio4Med is an incoming scheme that aims at providing a unique,
international, inter-disciplinary and inter-sectoral doctoral training for 22 Early Stage
Researchers (ESRs) in the domain of biological bases of human diseases. It combines 22
leading research groups at the Nencki Institute and their scientific partners from world-
class laboratories located in EU Member States, Switzerland, Ukraine, Japan, Canada
and US (22 Partner Organisations). Fellows will spend part of their time at a foreign
institution and there will be a joint supervision.
Total budget of the programme: 4 897 200 EUR
Requested EU contribution: 2 302 080 EUR

International IST Doctoral Program
Beneficiary: Institute of Science and Technology Austria, AUSTRIA
Project objective: ISTScholar is an incoming scheme, with the aim to educate a new
generation of researchers who are able to approach scientific questions from different
angles and are fluent in the languages of both the experimental sciences and analytical
sciences. Providing doctoral training during 2 years for a total of 84 Early Stage
Researchers (ESRs).
The curriculum is designed to provide a foundation both broad and deep enough to
support thesis research across a wide spectrum of cutting-edge research problems.
Students have to fulfil a breadth requirement by taking courses outside their own field.
Throughout the courses, interdisciplinary approaches will be encouraged through the
formation of mixed teams of students.
Total budget of the programme: 9 845 323 EUR
Requested EU contribution: 4 394 880 EUR
