NEBRA, NEBRO, NEBRE, SWITE, OPTIF, SYNUF and SYN4E provide cages for SFP (Small Form factor Pluggable) modules. The compliance with the requirements for LASER CLASSES depends on the SFP brand and is specified for the SFP module.

ABB recommends and re-sells only SFP modules which comply with the requirements for CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCTS as detailed in specification EN60825-1: 1994 under both normal and single fault conditions.

A.2.1.1 Identification

As all units with optical interfaces comply with the requirements for a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT, EN60825 has no requirement for warning labels to be displayed on this equipment.

Fore more powerful lasers, both the laser radiation and a warning label are required to be displayed on the equipment.

The following yellow explanatory label may be fixed to the equipment to define the laser classification:

A.2.2 Optical connector / fibre handling

CAUTION Optical connectors

Clean all optical connectors by an approved method before making any optical connection.

When making an optical connection, do not rotate the optical connector unnecessarily.

When not connected, fit all optical plugs and couplings with captive caps.

CAUTION Damage to optical fibres

When dressing fibres, take care not to exceed the minimum bend radius (typically 35 mm) and do not overtighten tyraps used for dressing as damage may result.

WARNING Danger from glass chips

If there is any suspicion of a glass chip in the eye, seek medical attention at once.

WARNING Optical safety - automatic laser shutdown (ALS) mec hanism

The optical units contain link options for disabling the automatic laser shutdown mechanism for test purposes. In normal operation, ensure that the laser shutdown mechanism is enabled.

A.2.3 Electrical Safety

WARNING Energy hazard

The 48 V d.c. supply or any voltage converter can deliver high currents.

A.5 Test Preparations

Before starting the equipment test, the following preparations have to be performed: • Build up the FOX 515/512 network according to the project documentation. Network islands may be tested

individually. If there is no remote station available for an optical interconnection, a local loop must be done.

• Inspect the grounding connections (chassis to cabinet frame)

• Check the external power supply polarity (-48 V toward ground)

• For all FOX515/512 NEs, make sure the software required by the configuration has been delivered to the control unit

• Make sure that for all NE involved in the equipment test, the corresponding configuration has been downloaded to the control unit with UCST. For the setup of the PC and UCST please refer to the FOX 512 / 512 User’s Manual.

A.6 Signal Terminals, External Cables Usually during the equipment test, the test equipment is connected to the NE modules.

A.7 Test Depth

The FOX 515/512 modules have been tested at the manufacturer’s factory. The equipment test’s purpose is to check setup, configurations and interworking.

A.8 Scope of Test

Basically, all external interfaces are checked according to the specifications given in this instruction, whereby the following tests will be carried out:

• Verification of the power supply

• Communication Channels

• Management Channel (ECC)

• 1 + 1 Operation, Switch over on failure of one path

• Synchronization

• Final tests, Report respectively Certificate (FAT) In the equipment test the NE’s are connected to each other and tested as an entire network wherever possible. Network islands are built up and tested separately. For AF-channels, level measurements are taken and in the case of telephony channels, the signaling function is checked. As far as possible the test signals are looped back at the remote end of the communication channel so that the measurement can be carried out in both directions at the same time. With 2-wire operation end-to-end measurements have to be done. Channel verification by means of a remote loop initiated by UCST is only permitted if a passive loop-back on the interface is not possible. The Cross-Connect operation is checked with the end to end communication channel tests. For electrical transit connections at the 2 Mbit/s level, the signal is checked at, or respectively fed into, the associated time slot. The Cross-Connect-function for data channels that leave the system over a 2 Mbit/s port is checked by carrying out a frame analysis of the departing / arriving 2 Mbit/s signals.

A.9 Equipment Test Report

A detailed equipment test report is delivered with the equipment. Channels of tributary cards are tested in the channel list, which is part of the project specific documentation and of the test report.

E.4.1 TEBIT - Teleprotection Binary Unit

Teleprotection

1.1.1.1.1 Trip Applications

The different trip applications (Point-to-Point, T-Operation, Inverse T-Operation) and connections of the trip commands according to the project documentation are checked by means of the Protection Signal Simulator provided with the ‘TEBIT Testset’ (Ordering # 1KHL016400R0001). Every enabled teleprotection command of the project has to be checked for its source and destination. If according to the project documentation any trip application includes ‘Command Alarm Signals’ or ’Command Acknowledge Signals’ that are configured to an auxiliary relay, command or binary signal output, then the correct operation of these signals has to be checked, too. • Connect one Protection Signal Simulator to every TEBIT involved in the application that is checked

• Connect one Binary Signal Simulator to every TEBIT that has ‘Command Alarm Signals’ or ’Command Acknowledge Signals’ configured to a binary signal output

• Set the TEBIT parameter ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ in the ‘Teleprotection Commands: Input Settings’ to 24 V for every command involved.

• Set and reset the commands on the Protection Signal Simulator for every protection application and observe the reaction on the other Protection Signal Simulators involved.

Important: When checking the operation of protection applications that have the ‘Cmd Duration

Monitoring’ parameter enabled in the ‘Teleprotection Commands: Input Settings’, pay attention that all commands set for more than 5 seconds will be cut off.

Check: Correct trip transmission for all protection applic ations according to project documentation

Check: Correct trip acknowledges signal output according t o project documentation

• Interrupt the trip transmission path and observe the reaction of the ‘Command Alarm Signal’ output on Protection Signal Simulator or on the Binary Signal Simulator depending on the configuration.

E 14

Check: Correct command alarm output signal for all protect ion applications according to project documentation

• Reset the TEBIT parameter ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ in the ‘Teleprotection Commands: Input Settings’ to the voltage specified by the project documentation for all the commands involved.

1.1.1.1.2 Trip Transfer and Trip Extension Measurement

The trip transfer and trip extension time is checked to correspond to the project specifications by means of the ‘Testbox MK11’ (Ordering # HENF468695P0001). Every enabled teleprotection command of the project has to be checked. • Connect the ‘Testbox MK11’ to both ends of the teleprotection channel.

Important: The ‘Testbox MK11’ does not provide all voltages for the configurable ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ parameter in the ‘Teleprotection Commands: Input Settings’. Alternatively, the following voltages of the ‘Testbox MK11’ can be used:

• 48 V for ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ 24, 48, 60 V

• 100 V for ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ 110, 125 V

• 220 V for ‘Nominal Input Voltage’ 220, 250 V

Check: Trip transfer time ≤≤≤≤ 5 ms (speed optimized) 1

≤≤≤≤ 8 ms (security optimized)

Check: Trip extension according to project documentation

See annex M.9

1.1.1.1.3 Channel Addressing

Since wrong address configuration would result in commands not being transmitted, the check for correct channel addressing is reduced to verification if addressing has been configured in UCST. • Establish the connection to the NE with the corresponding configuration file loaded in UCST.

• Select the TEBIT traffic parameter mask in UCST and check the addresses in ‘Teleprotection Command Parameters’.

E.4.1.2Binary Signal Transmission

The different binary signal applications and connections according to the project documentation are checked by means of the Binary Signal Simulator provided with the ‘TEBIT Testset’. Every enabled binary signal of the project has to be checked for its source and destination. • Connect one Binary Signal Simulator to every TEBIT involved in the application that is checked

• Set and reset the binary signals on the Binary Signal Simulator for every application and observe the reaction on the other Binary Signal Simulators involved.

1 The given trip transfer time refers to a single NE TEBIT <-> TEBIT point to point connection. If the trip command travels through intermediate NEs the following additional propagation delay time must be added: Speed optimized: about 1.5 ms per through connection (TEBIT command cross connect) Security optimized: about 2.5 ms per through connection (TEBIT command cross connect)
