HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY This prayer dates back to 170 A.D. and is the oldest prayer to Mary. Also there is in the catacombs of Priscilla in Rome an image of Mary holding the Baby Jesus.

We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God;

Despise not our petitions in our necessities,

but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Amen

HOLY FAMILY PASSIONIST RETREAT CENTER, West Hartford, CT Nothing Less than Everything Holy Family's retreat team invites you to experience a dynamic weekend retreat which explores the meaning and the potential of love to transform our lives. Christ gave us nothing less than complete love on the cross, and we, in turn, are called to love one another. The Retreat begins with a buffet dinner Friday from 6-8 PM and ends with brunch at noon on Sunday. Call 860-760-9705 for info or register at www.holyfamilyretreat.org. Women’s Retreat: May 30–Jun 2.

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM Critics who say the Catholic Church is against universal health care are misinformed. The Catholic Church is founded on the Corporal Works of Mercy and helping others. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has always advocated for health care. The Catholic Church is opposing the federal health care mandate, because it violates the First Amendment, which is supposed to safeguard freedom of religion. If you haven’t done so already, please voice your opposition to the mandate by calling President Obama at the White House at 202-456-1111 or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at 202-205-5445. Let them know that the mandate is in violation of our First Amendment right to religious freedom.

Where are our shut-ins? Please call the rectory if you have a loved one in the hospital or in a nursing home so we can visit, bring the Eucharist and keep in touch.
