Fourth Sunday of Advent Luke 1: 39-45 Quesons to Ponder: In this week’s Gospel, Mary expresses her faith in God with a resounding “YES”. Mary is not only the first Chris*an and Mother of the Lord, but she is also the Mother of the Church. 1. Share a me when you found a chance to say “Yes” to God? 2. Is spiritual growth a part of your Advent? Share one thing that you add to your daily roune during Advent that helps make your Christmas be(er. 3. Can you think of someone to whom you can reach out to in their me of need this Advent?
Dear St. John Paul II Parishioners, The preschool Christmas Programs, the Baby Jesus’ birthday pares, the staff dinners and luncheons are all behind us now. We have come to the final days of the Advent Season and the preparing of Jesus’ rebirth into our lives. I have nothing but great joy in my heart and so much to be thankful for at this me in my life. If you have not already heard, I will be rering at the end of this school year. A4er having served 30 ½ years as director of St. John Paul II Preschool & Child Care, I will be leaving and moving to Indianapolis to be closer to my children and grand-children. I have found a home a block and a half from the Geist Reservoir that I think will be suitable for Kobe, Louie, Reggie and myself. It is a big home with plenty of room for guests and with a big fenced yard and deck for the dogs to play. I will be ten minutes from my daughter, twenty minutes from my son, five minutes from my new parish, St. Simon the Apostle, and just minutes from anything I could possibly need. This has not been an easy decision for me. A4er the birth of my grandson, Colton in March of this year, I have struggled with whether it was me to rere. I prayed for God to give me a sign and to lead me in making this decision. He answered my prayers. When I accepted the responsibilies of director many years ago, at that me I knew one thing for sure. I knew I had a genuine love for children and the desire for each and every one of them to experience the very best that life had to offer. I did not have a clue what was in store for me. In leaving, the only thing I know for sure is I will miss all the children. I will miss their beauful, smiling faces and their funny stories. I will miss all the wonderful families I have come to know and love over the years. I will miss all my parish family, Fr. Tom’s homilies and the availability to worship in our new church. I will be leaving behind a very competent staff to carry on with our mission and whom I will miss deeply. Many of them have o4en referred to me as their second mother. I am thankful for my me and memories and for the opportunity to work here these 30 ½ years. During this Advent Season I will connue to pray that God will walk with me on my new journey through life as I know he has walked with me through all my many years here at St. John Paul II Preschool & Child Care. MERRY CHRISTMAS!MERRY CHRISTMAS!MERRY CHRISTMAS!MERRY CHRISTMAS! Ruth Lile Director St. John Paul II Preschool & Child Care
The family of Norbert J. Dilger would like to sincerely thank Fr. Tom, the choir, serv-ers and everyone who had a hand in pre-paring the delicious meal a4er the funeral for our family. Thank you. The Family of Norbert J. Dilger

Prayer Partners during Mass Beginning this Christmas, we are going to
start a new tradi-on at St. John Paul II to
offer up prayers for those beside us in the
pews during mass. Each week at the begin-
ning of mass, we will ask you to introduce
yourself to someone seated near you. Then
you will have the opportunity to pray for
this person by name throughout the mass.
Not only will this give us the opportunity to
learn the names of our fellow parishioners
and visitors, but we will also be able to pray
for them and their inten-ons. We all come
to mass with some prayer inten-on on our
hearts. How great that someone else is
praying for what is important to us as well!
You don’t have to share what that inten-on
is specifically, but another person will be
praying along with you for what is weighing
on your heart. What a blessing!
Name Tag Sundays Beginning Soon Did you know that nearly 1300 families are members of our church family? With our con-nuously growing parish it’s hard to know every-one’s name. What be/er way to do this than to have a regular name tag Sunday so we can easily learn the names of guests and parishioners alike. We may sit next to the same folks week a.er week and never have the opportunity to ask their names- but now we can. On nametag Sundays, nametags will be available for you to complete on your way in the door and wear throughout mass. Before we know it, our parish will be a place “where everybody knows your name.”
