DECEMBER 25—Clergy Benefit Trust
Every Christmas, we join with family and friends to honor and thank
our priests. Our 614 diocesan priests celebrate our joys, comfort us
in 3mes of crisis or sorrow, and are there during the ordinary and
extraordinary moments of life. Together, they represent thousands
of years of dedicated service to Christ and to us—His Church.
Remember priests who have served our parish who have made a
meaningful difference in your life, and consider honoring him/them
with a generous gi8 to today’s/tonight’s collec3on. You also can
make a gi8 online at clergy funds.org or simply text the word PRIEST
to 56512 (Msg. & data rates may apply). Our priests have dedicated
their lives to serving the Catholic faithful here in our Archdiocese.
Now, it is our turn to serve them in their 3me of need.
Thank you for your prayers and generous support of our priests.
"Witness to Life" Pilgrimage to D.C
March for Life January 22, 2016
On January 21, 2016, young people from the Archdiocese of
Boston will depart to join hundreds of thousands of their peers
in Washington, DC, at the 43rd annual March for Life on
January 22nd, 2016. This powerful event began as a small
demonstra3on on anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade
decision. Today, the March for Life is the largest pro-life event in
the world and is a great opportunity to witness to the dignity of
all human life, especially the most vulnerable in our society -
the unborn. We are happy to once again invite you to join
Cardinal Sean O’Malley and the Archdiocese of Boston on this
life changing pilgrimage to rise up and witness to life in 2016!
We have four dis3nct tracks to best serve all those interested,
including a middle school, high school, young adult, and family
track. Please visit www.bostoncatholic.org/witnesstolife or
contact us at [email protected]; 617-746-5766 for more
informa3on.
We would like to extend an
invitation for children, ladies and
gentlemen to join in helping our
parish to pray in song.
A lovely group of singers can also
produce a beautiful choir solo from
time to time. If you would like to join this beautiful ministry
please see Joan Riley, our music director after Masses or call
her at 978-356-5494 and email [email protected]
Mass Schedule Change—January 2016 There will be no Sunday 5:30 PM Masses for the
month of January, 2016.
The Sunday 5:30 PM Mass will resume on
Sunday, February 7, 2016. There are a few reasons why the Masses have
been canceled. I will be away on two of the
Sundays and we are not able to get any priest to
cover the 5:30 PM Masses. There is no problem
with the other Sunday Masses, just the 5:30 PM
Masses. Also, there are a few “holiday weekends”
involved and very few attend when that happens.
But, the Sunday 5:30 PM Mass will resume on
February 7, 2016. On a general note, I will have to say that since
the 5:30 PM Mass started in September, the
attendance has not been good, many times the
lectors and ministers have not shown up, no
consistent ushers, etc. The only strong point has
been the Music ministry! The Sunday 5:30 PM
Mass may be a concern for the future.
Merry Christmas! Best Wishes from Becket the wonder dog…..

ENRICH YOUR MARRIAGE!
The Archdiocese of Boston has a new marriage preparation
program, Transformed in Love, that is being implemented through-
out the Archdiocese. We need more married couples to help with
the program. For more information, including the top 10 reasons
for being involved, please visit www.BostonCatholic.org/Training.
Maybe this is something God is calling you to do! ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED OR KNOW
SOMEONE WHO IS?
Attend the new archdiocesan program Transformed in Love.
Programs are offered regularly, but space is limited and
pre-registration required. A previous participant commented:
“A must have. Fantastic. I would strongly recommend to all
couples getting married.” Another participant said, “It was
fabulous! We truly enjoyed [the program] and really grew as a
couple.” For more information visit www.BostonCatholic.org/

A Mother's Greedng Fourth Sunday Advent (Cycle C) Micah 5:1-4
Psalm 80:2-3,15-16,18-19
Hebrews 5:5-10
Luke 1:39-45 On this last Sunday before Christmas, the Church's Liturgy
reveals the true iden3ty of our Redeemer:
He is, as today's First Reading says, the "ruler...whose origin is
from...ancient 3mes." He will come from Bethlehem, where
David was born of Jesse the Ephrathite and anointed king
(see Ruth 4:11-17; 1 Samuel 16:1-13; 17:1; MaRhew 2:6). God promised that an heir of David would reign on his throne
forever (see 2 Samuel 7:12-13; Psalm 89; Psalm 132:11-12). Jesus is that heir, the One the prophets promised would re-
store the scaRered tribes of Israel into a new kingdom (see
Isaiah 9:5-6; Ezekiel 34:23-25,30; 37:35). He is "the shepherd
of Israel," sung of in today's Psalm. From His throne in heaven,
He has "come to save us." Today's Epistle tells us that He is both the Son of David and
the only "begoRen" Son of God, come "in the flesh" (see also
Psalm 2:7). He is also our "high priest," from the mold of the
mysterious Melchisedek, "priest of God Most High," who
blessed Abraham at the dawn of salva3on history
(see Psalm 110:4; Genesis 14:18-20). All this is recognized by John when he leaps for joy in his
mother's womb. Elizabeth, too, is filled with joy and the Holy
Spirit. She recognizes that in Mary "the mother of my Lord" has
come to her. We hear in her words another echo of the Psalm
quoted in today's Epistle (see Psalm 2:7). Elizabeth blesses
Mary for her faith that God's Word would be fulfilled in her. Mary marks the fulfillment not only of the angel's promise to
her, but of all God's promises down through history. Mary is
the one they await in today's First Reading - "she who is to give
birth." She will give birth this week, at Christmas. And the fruit
of her womb should bring us joy - she is the mother of our
Lord.

The Holy Mass is:• the celebradon of the Paschal mys-
tery-sacrifice (passion, death, resurrecdon) of Christ our Lord,
made present and efficacious within the Chrisdan community:
“Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again”• the
true, real and substandal presence of Christ with his Body,
Blood, Soul and Divinity: true God and true Man• the
communion-banquet with Christ and, thanks to Him, with our
brothers: through His sacrifice, Christ marvelously unites us to
Himself and to one another, in such a manner that we
become “one.”

Meet Fr. Vin −The Gift of Family
As the pastor of three parishes in Dorchester and Mattapan, Fr. Vin’s responsibilities are extraordinary. While his daily work is a source of great joy, it’s the love and devotion of a special sister named Connie that restores his spirit.
When Fr. Vin’s parents passed away, he and his sister Eileen became the sole guardians of their disabled sister. For Fr. Vin, being a brother and a priest for Connie is an immense blessing. The unconditional love that he receives from Connie—especially at the end of a busy day— continues to fill his heart with gratitude.
Fr. Vin selflessly dedicates his life in service to others. This Christmas, show your gratitude with a gift that cares for Fr. Vin and the health and well-being of all the priests who faithfully serve our Archdiocese of Boston.
Text the word PRIEST to 56512 or make a gift through your parish collection at Christmas Mass.
Thank you for your generous support of the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust.
“A priest, whoever he may be, is always another Christ.”
