Samantha Vollbrecht Fourth Grade Geometry and Measurement: Perimeter and Area Objective: • Students will know the perimeter is the distance around the outside of a polygon. • Students will be able to find the perimeter of picture‐represented objects, which can be divided into rectangular shapes. • Students will be able to find the area of picture‐represented objects, which can be divided into rectangular shapes. • Students will know area is labeled in square units. Standard: • 4.3.2.4: Find the areas of geometric figures and real‐world objects that can be divided into rectangular shapes. Use square units to label area measurements. Materials: • Laminated Pictures‐Represented Objects • Markers • Perimeter/Area story • Story represented shapes • Pencils • Paper square units • Perimeter/Area Table Motivation: • Good Morning ______ and ______ how are you doing today? o Good, excited, okay • I’m glad to hear that! I have a new lesson planned for us today, with activities, but we must review first. What are the three types of angles we talked about last week? o Acute o Obtuse o Right • How do we know if an angle is acute? o The space between the lines is less than 90 degrees. • That is correct, thank you ______. ______, how do we know is an angle is a right angle? o The space between the lines is equal to 90 degrees.
