Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
All you who hear, Now to his temple draw near.
Praise him in glad adoration!
Alma, bendice al Señor por su amor infinito;
Praise to the Lord! Oh, let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
Gladly forever adore him!
OPENING RITE Based on Psalm 72
P: In the name of the Father and of the Son † and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
P: Endow the king with your justice, O God,
C: the royal son with your righteousness.
P: May he judge your people in righteousness,
C: your afflicted ones with justice.
P: May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
C: the hills the fruit of righteousness.
P: May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy;
C: may he crush the oppressor.
Page 2

P: May he endure as long as the sun,
C: as long as the moon, through all generations.
P: For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
C: the afflicted who have no one to help.
P: He will take pity on the weak and the needy
C: and save the needy from death.
P: He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
C: for precious is their blood in his sight.
P: Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,
C: who alone does marvelous deeds.
P: Praise be to his glorious name forever;
C: may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
C: And also with you.
CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION
P: Friends in Christ: Let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask
him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.
C: Almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor helpless sinner, confess to you all my sins, and repent
of all the evil I have done. I have deeply displeased you and deserve your punishment both now
and forever. But I am sorry for my sins, and I ask you, for the sake of the holy innocent
sufferings and death of your dear Son Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me.
P: I ask each of you in the presence of God who searches the heart: Do you confess that you have
sinned, and do you repent of your sins?
C: I do.
P: Do you believe that Jesus Christ has redeemed you from all your sins, and do you desire
forgiveness in his name?
C: I do.
P: Do you intend with the help of the Holy Spirit to live as in God's presence, and to strive daily to
lead a holy life, understanding that Christ has made you holy?
C: I do.
Page 3
3
P: Christ gave to his church the authority to forgive the sins of those who repent, and to declare to
those who do not repent that their sins are not forgiven. Therefore, upon your confession, I, as a
called servant of the word, announce the grace of God to all of you, and on behalf of our Lord Jesus
Christ I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the Son † and of the Holy Spirit.
Peace be with you.
C: Amen.
LORD, HAVE MERCY
P: Oh God the Father, you sent your one and only Son into the World.
Continue to provide us with all that we need for this body and life.
C: Lord, Have Mercy.
P: Oh God the Son, you lived, died, and rose again to free us from our sins.
Continue to intercede on our behalf.
C: Christ, Have Mercy.
P: Oh God the Holy Spirit, you call us to faith through the Gospel message.
Continue to strength our faith and call all people to confess Christ as their Savior.
C: Lord, Have Mercy.
SONG OF PRAISE Glory Be to God in Heaven
Christian Worship | 264
Glory be to God in heaven, Peace to those who love him well.
On the earth let all his people, Speak his grace, his wonders tell:
Lord, we praise you for your glory, Mighty Father, heaven’s King;
Hear our joyful adoration, And accept the thanks we bring.
Only Son of God the Father, Lamb who takes our sin away,
Now with him in triumph seated—For your mercy, Lord, we pray:
Jesus Christ, most high and holy, Savior, you are God alone
In the glory of the Father With the Spirit, Three in One!

PRAYER OF THE DAY
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: O Almighty God, grant that we know without
hesitation that your Son Jesus Christ is the
Way, the Truth and the Life, so that, following
in his footsteps, we can walk the path that leads
to eternal life; through Jesus Christ, your Son,
our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and
with the Holy Spirit, always one God, for ever
and ever.
siglos.
C: Amen.
FIRST LESSON Isaiah 66:18-24
18 “And I, because of what they have planned and
done, am about to come and gather the people of all
nations and languages, and they will come and see
my glory.
19 “I will set a sign among them, and I will send some
of those who survive to the nations—to Tarshish, to
the Libyans and Lydians (famous as archers), to
Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that
have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They
will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20 And
they will bring all your people, from all the nations,
to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to
the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and
on mules and camels,” says the Lord. “They will
bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain
offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially
clean vessels. 21 And I will select some of them also
to be priests and Levites,” says the Lord. 22 “As the
new heavens and the new earth that I make will
endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your
name and descendants endure. 23 From one New
Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another,
all mankind will come and bow down before me,”
says the Lord. 24 “And they will go out and look on
the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me;
the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that
burns them will not be quenched, and they will be
loathsome to all mankind.”
punto de reunir a gente de toda nación y lengua;

SECOND LESSON Hebrews 12:18-24
18 You have not come to a mountain that can be
touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness,
gloom and storm; 19 to a trumpet blast or to such a
voice speaking words that those who heard it
begged that no further word be spoken to
them, 20 because they could not bear what was
commanded: “If even an animal touches the
mountain, it must be stoned to death.” 21 The sight
was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling
with fear.” 22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of
the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have
come to thousands upon thousands of angels in
joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the
firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You
have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of
the righteous made perfect, 24 to Jesus the
mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled
blood that speaks a better word than the blood of
Abel.
VERSE OF THE DAY 1 Timothy 1:10
Alleluia. Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL Luke 13:22-30
22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages,
teaching as he made his way to
Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a
few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter
through the narrow door, because many, I tell you,
will try to enter and will not be able to.25 Once the
owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you
will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open
the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you
come from.’
26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you,
and you taught in our streets.’
27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you
come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’
28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of
teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and
all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you
yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east
and west and north and south, and will take their
places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed
there are those who are last who will be first, and
first who will be last.”
entrar y no podrán.
M: This is the Gospel of our Lord!
C: Praise be to you, O Christ!
HYMN OF THE DAY I Walk in Danger All the Way
Christian Worship | 431
I walk with Jesus all the way; His guidance never fails me.
He takes my ev’ry fear away When Satan’s pow’r assails me,
And, by his footsteps led, My path I safely tread.
In spite of ills that threaten may, I walk with Jesus all the way.
My walk is heav’nward all the way; Await, my soul, the morrow,
When you farewell can gladly say To all your sin and sorrow.
All worldly pomp, begone! To heav’n I now press on.
For all the world I would not stay; My walk is heav’nward all the way.

SERMON
NICENE CREED
I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and
unseen.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of
God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from
God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one being with the Father.
Through him all things were made. For us and for
our salvation, he came down from heaven, was
incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and became fully human. For our sake he was
crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death
and was buried. On the third day he rose again in
accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into
heaven and is seated at the right hand of the
Father. He will come again in glory to judge the
living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no
end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of
life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who in unity with the Father and the Son is
worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through
the prophets. I believe in one holy Christian and
apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for
the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection
of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
verdadero Dios, engendrado y no hecho,

THE PREFACE
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them up to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
C: It is good and right so to do.
P: It is indeed good and right, Lord God, holy Father, that we should at all times and in all places give
thanks to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord who promised that wherever two or three come
together in his name, there he is with them to shepherd his flock till he comes again in glory. And so,
with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we adore and praise your glorious
name:
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy
name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive
those who trespass against us; And lead us not into
temptation, But deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom and the power and the glory forever
and ever. Amen.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
M: Blessed are you, O God Almighty, who through Jesus Christ, your eternal Word, created all things
and made mankind in your own image.
Blessed are you, O merciful Father, for when Adam sinned and lost your image, you did not forsake
the people you had created. You sent your only begotten Son to take on human flesh through the
Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary. As our substitute, he fulfilled all of your laws in our place and died
the death we deserve because of our sin.
Blessed are you, O God our Savior, for you have gathered us here to remember Jesus’ sacrifice on
our behalf. In this meal you give us his true body and blood, which paid our debt to you and assures
us of your forgiveness.
For all of your undeserved love toward us, we give thanks and praise to your living and life-giving
name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.
WORDS OF INSTITUION
P: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks, he
broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body, which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.”
Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; this is my
blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, whenever
you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
C: Amen.

CLOSING HYMN Jerusalem the Golden
Christian Worship Supplement | 728
Jerusalem the golden, With milk and honey blest—
The sight of it refreshes The weary and oppressed:
I know not, oh, I know not What joys await us there,
What radiancy of glory, What bliss beyond compare:
To sing the hymn unending With all the martyr throng,
Amidst the halls of Zion Resounding full with song.
The Christ is ever with them; The daylight is serene.
The pastures of the blessed Are ever rich and green.
There is the throne of David; And there from care released,
The shout of them that triumph, The song of them that feast.
To God enthroned in glory The Church’s voices blend,
The Lamb forever blessed, The Light that knows no end.
