Welcome to the Prescott Founders Run, a motorcycle fund

raising ride to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of

Arizona, and sponsored by Bucky’s Casino and Yavapai

Casino. Proceeds from this event will fund wishes for

Arizona children suffering from life-threatening medi-

cal conditions. In 1980, I was a motorcycle officer with the Arizona

Highway Patrol. Myself and other officers were informed

that a 7-year old boy named Chris had leukemia, and only

had a few weeks to live. We also learned that Chris had

a “wish”, he wanted to be a Highway Patrol Motorcycle

Officer when he grew up. We made Chris’ wish happen,

making him the first and only Honorary Arizona Highway

Patrol Motorcycle Officer in the history of the Arizona

Highway Patrol, complete with a custom made uniform,

badge and uniform motorcycle wings. Chris passed away a

few days after receiving his “wish”, and was buried with

full police honors. Chris was the inspiration for my founding of the Make-

A-Wish Foundation, let a child with a life-threatening

medical condition make a wish, and we’ll make it happen.

In 1980, the motorcycle community was the first to come

forward to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation,

and for almost 30 years, it has continued “riding the

miles” so we can continue to put the smiles on our wish

kids. The Make-A-Wish Foundation now grants wishes to

children all over the world, all because of one little
