The recent announcement of our 2010 earnings, the opening of our 75th country and the addition of two new Founder’s Circle members are all indications of our incredible momentum in the Herbalife Decade.

Let’s start with the numbers: We achieved record retail sales of US$4.3 billion in 2010, record Volume Points of 3.2 billion, record net sales of US$2.7 billion, record sales leader retention of 48.9 percent (up from 43 percent last year and 27 percent in 2002) and double-digit improvement in Supervisor ordering activity.

We’ve gone wider and deeper by updating the Company’s infrastructure in the country of Georgia, which is now our 75th market. An initial line of inner nutrition products are available, including Formula 1 Meal Replacement in five flavours, Herbal Aloe Concentrate and Herbal Tea Concentrate.

Our growth is creating more opportunities than ever before for our Distributors. Hard work, gratitude and humor brought Founder’s Circle member Leslie Stanford everything she could ever want.

Making the Decision to

Succeed

Leslie Stanford was a dental hygienist when she moved

from her native Calgary to Los Angeles, to be with her

f iancé. She got a condo right on the beach, furnished

it, and then the relationship fel l apar t. With major bil ls

due in two weeks, Lesl ie answered an ad about an

Herbalife Independent business opportunity that was

growing quickly. She attended an HOM, worked hard to

sell the products, and two weeks later, had the money

she needed to remain af loat. Years (and one lovely

family) later, this inspirational leader is a member of

the prestigious Founder’s Circle.

As one wou ld expe c t , Le s l i e d id no t ge t to the

Founder’s C i rc le w i thout her share of cha l lenges.

For her, one of the most notable chal lenges at the

beginning was handl ing re ject ion.

“I wasn’t used to sales, so I would give somebody my best

pitch and when they said no, I took it personally,” says

Leslie. “It was hard for me to overcome rejection.”

Leslie’s second biggest challenge was learning

how to employ herself.

“Since I didn’t have a boss and I didn’t have to punch

a time clock, it was really easy to not work all day. And

you can be working all day and not be doing work that

directly grows the business. So learning how to spend

your time doing the things that directly grow your business

is key,” she says. “Staying away from distractions, which

is anything that keeps you from doing your Business

Methods, is really a dif ficult thing for most people to do.

And it was for me.”

These days, Leslie is in a position to offer

advice to those Distributors who are

eager for success.

“Be the product user that you want all your clients

to be. Whenever we sell products to a client,

we want them to stick with it, be consistent, get

results, and then use the products for the rest of

their lives. And we want them to use everything.

So, imagine the best possible client ever, and that’s

the cl ient that we need to be. The same thing goes

with Distr ibutors. Be the Distr ibutor that you want your

Distributors to duplicate. Think of the best Distributor you

could ever possibly sponsor. That person would be retailing

and recruiting massively, going to all the trainings, qualifying

for everything, and then duplicating over and over and over

again. That’s what we need to do,” she says.

Also crucial to success, Leslie believes,

are humor and gratitude.

“I tr y to see the humor in almost every thing – because

life’s too short. I love to laugh, I love to be happy, and if I’m

having a bad day, I catch myself and think about, number

one: living in gratitude all the time; and then number two,

seeing the humor in things. We have so much to be thankful

for, and I think about that when I wake up every morning

and when I go to bed at night.”

She credits much of her success, as well,

to what she learned from Mark Hughes.

“He showed us how to be leaders. When he passed away,

I remember being worried and trying to f igure out how we

could keep going. And I read this

quote in a book on leadership:

A legacy is created only when a

person puts his organization in a

place to do great things without him.

And that was another big turning point for

me. I realized that Mark’s mission had become

our mission. He was never self ish with his leadership; he

had us do the trainings and taught us how to do everything.

He left this organization in a place to do great things without

him. So not only did we survive, we thrived.”

People often ask Leslie why she continues

working so hard, traveling so much,

and attending so many events.

“I f ind that so much of my sense of purpose comes from

hearing the stories of people in our business that succeed

against al l odds,” Lesl ie says. “Their stor ies inspire me.

I love and appreciate the Distributors worldwide who work

so hard every day to fulf ill Mark’s mission, and all the people

that work at the Company who support our ef forts. We’re

partners in this endeavor. Our Chairman and CEO, Michael

O. Johnson, has really taken our mission to heart and I love

that he walks the walk, and I’m just so thankful that he’s

come into the Herbali fe family. Jim Rohn said that each

of us needs all of us. If we want to change the nutritional

habits of the world one person at a time, that is going to

take all of us!”*

Mike Kirkpatrickwas used to his wife,

Tara, coming up with ideas to make them

successful.Sowhenshecamebackfrom

her tour of duty overseas, having lost

weight with Herbalife® products, he was

impressed enough to start taking them

himself.Helost35pounds(16kg)andwas

able to improve his overall health.

Butmuch to Tara’s chagrin, he was

absolutely not interested in Herbalife as

abusiness.Shewasdreamingofstarting

aNutritionClub,andMikewasdeadset

against the idea.

“He believed in the products, he just

didn’t believe in the business until we

went to a Leadership Development

WeekendinSanAntonio,inJanuaryof

2010,” says Tara, who had just started

her Herbalife business in their hometown

ofAsheville,NorthCarolina,themonth

prior. “I was going to go anyway; that’s

my personality. I bought two tickets and I

went to him and I said, ‘Okay, honey, I’m

going to this event. I’d love for you to go

with me, but if you’re not going to go I’m

going anyway. I’ll take somebody else,

and it will be weird because we only have

one hotel room, but…’ He was not happy,

but he went.”

At the event, Mike had the opportunity to

ask the speakers what it would take for

the business not to work.

“They told him, ‘It doesn’t work for people

that don’t work.’ He knows my work ethic.

He knew that we would be really good

atthis.Bytheendoftheday,hesaidto

me, ‘Okay, honey, we’re going to open a

NutritionClubbytheendofMarch.’Itstill

gives me goose bumps.”

Less than a year later, the Nutrition Club,

WOW – named for the response almost

everyone has to the products, their results,

the Club, and its members – is known as

“The Happiest Place in Asheville.”

“What makes it easy for us is that we have

great stories,” says Mike. “Tara lost

55 pounds (25 kg); I lost 35 pounds (16 kg).

We’ve got a picture of Tara [on display

in the Club] and people come in and

say, ‘Who’s that?’ And I say, ‘That’s my

wife, over there!’ Most people think it’s

somebody in a magazine or something –

you know, these people aren’t real, they

don’t exist – and we prove to them every

day that yeah, these people do exist.

They’re amongst you.”

While Mike continues to hold down a full-

time job, Tara devotes many of her waking

hours working to ensure the Club’s success.

“When I open, I’m usually there at about

4:30 in the morning, because that’s my

only time to really get things done, and then

I don’t get home until 7:30 or 8 at night,

and then we deal with our Distributors who

aren’t in the Club and don’t necessarily live

here,” Tara says. “So it’s the hardest I’ve

ever worked, but it’s the most fun I’ve ever

had, and it doesn’t feel like work.”

The secret, says Tara, is threefold.

“First, have a really good team

established. Build the business and have a

supportive team because honestly it is our

team, our team is what makes it.

Next, it’s got to be from the heart,” she

says. “Every time one of our Distributors is

in the Club, it is about helping our clients.

It’s not about putting money in our pockets.

All that comes, but that’s not why we do

it. You come in there and you notice: Our

Distributors are super happy. You notice it

when you call and they answer the phone.”

“The third thing would be not to give up.

Figure out what it is that you want before

you open a Nutrition Club. You’ve got to

have that clear vision and a clear goal.

Because it’s not easy and there are going to

come days when you’re like oh man, did I

do the right thing? And if you’ve got a super

clear vision of where you’re going, it makes

those days easy,” says Tara.

That vision is what will make the

Kirkpatrick’s next challenge much easier

than it might otherwise be: By the time this

story goes to press, Tara will have been

deployed for another three months.

“Yes, it’s a little bit scary,” admits Tara.

“I’m leaving a business, and my husband

has our family and his full-time job, but I

have no doubt that my team is going to

rock it. And that’s what the business is

about. Our Royalty check can continue

to grow, and in what other business

can you leave after less than a year and

still get paid? Mike and I have talked

about this; when I come back from this

deployment, it’ll prove why we went into

this business.*†

[of growth] happened. Then the second wave came in the

’90s,andmyincomealmosttripled.Itwasphenomenal.And

now, we are in the beginning of the third wave of Herbalife, so

allofyououtthere:Youareintherightplaceattherighttime!”

According to Mark, timing is everything. “This third wave has

started in 2010, and I want to give you some statistics just

tovalidatewhat’shappeninginNorthAmericarightnow,”

saysMark.“In2009,weonlyhad15STS’sandabout7,500

attendees.Andwhatwedid,webuiltuptoabout45STS’s,

andhad28,588peopleinattendance.”

FIRST DISTRIBUTORS FROM KOREA TO ACHIEVE FOUNDER’S CIRCLE

CONGRATULATIONS

Tae Ho and Hyun Mo owned a small farm in the countryside, where they raised cows. Their

life was adequate until Korea suffered a nationwide dairy-industry crisis, forcing Tae Ho out of

business. Having rising bills and growing debt, both Tae Ho and Hyun Mo were in desperate need

In 1996, after Herbalife officially opened in Korea, they returned home and expanded

their business. Tae Ho and Hyun Mo quickly became influential Independent Distributors

in Korea. They understood the difference between the two cultures and built an

organization that best suited Korea. Their new, integrated system was a monumental

success – they qualified for Chairman’s Club in 1999. Now, they have reached the

highest honor an Herbalife Independent Distributor can achieve: Founder’s Circle, the

very first in the history of Herbalife in Korea. “Our last and 10th diamond was special

to us,” says Hyun Mo. “It came from our eldest daughter Grace and our son-in-law

Alex. It is simply the best gift any parent can receive.”

Stephan P. Gratz ian i moved f rom Oregon to France when he was 19, with aspirations to turn a passion for cycling into a profession. Two years in, he became disenchanted with the sport, but wanted to remain in France.

“ I needed a way to make money,” says Stephan. “So, af ter looking for a job for a few months, I answered an ad in the paper, went to an Herbalife Opportunity Meeting (HOM) in Paris and that’s where I saw the business opportunity. Right away, I knew it was the right path for me.”

Having started with Herbalife at a young age, Stephan says that all the mentoring he rece i ved f rom Ma rk Hughes (1956–2000), from Jim Rohn (1930–2009), and from other leaders, truly helped to shape his personality and his philosophy.

“It’s part of who I am,” he says. “I feel like I grew up in Herbalife.”

No surpr ise, then, that Stephan is Herbal i fe’s newest member of the Cha i rman’s C lub and has taken

h i s b u s i n e s s i n to 50 c o u n t r i e s (yes, 50 ! ) . Planning and personal development, he says, have much to do with his success.

“Make sure you have a plan that’s going to produce results. It’s not that complicated: If you have someone who’s commit ted to growing, and you’re committed to helping them, then you will have results over time. Because of the way our business is, we always have the opportunity to take on the next challenge, which then gives us the option of growing to meet that challenge or letting the challenge win,” he says. “That’s why the Marketing Plan is such a magical thing; every time you get somewhere, you have to learn certain skills and disciplines, and all of a sudden there’s the next step, which will require a couple of new disciplines.”

Stephan tries as much as he can to he lp h is downl ine understand the importance of personal development.

“I think organizational trainings are impor tant, because they al low you to go in to some of the pe rsona l

development elements that can help people to become successful,” he says. “ It gives you a chance to go deeper and talk about some things that people probably wouldn’t hear at an Extravaganza, for example.

“You’ve got to f i l te r through the personal development stuff that’s out there. Some of it doesn’t work that well, but there’s a lot of it that’s good stuff. Normally, whatever is stopping someone from moving forward in life is the thing that needs to be worked on first – whether it’s their organization skil ls, their time management, their relationships or their discipline. The interesting thing is that as soon as you start working on something, there’s almost always something else that shows up, needing to be worked on,” says Stephan.

Founder’s Circle being his next goal, Stephan nevertheless feels incredibly lucky to be where he is. “Those of us who are involved with Herbalife have to be some of the most blessed people in the world,” Stephan says.*

Mark and Jill Addy were working long hours in sales and consulting and making good salaries. However, they had a lot of stress and ultimately had lost the inspiration to continue in their jobs. They wanted more control over their time and a way to work together and still have a good income, perhaps in the wellness industry.

They learned about Herbalife from a friend, Andrew Coltman, an Herbalife Independent Distr ibutor, and soon became Distr ibutors themselves. Success followed as they built their client base and team through their Circle of Influence. Danielle and Graeme Edwards were introduced to Herbal i fe® products in January 2007 through a Nutrition Club. Graeme lost 25 pounds (11 kg) initially and a total of 48 pounds (22 kg) altogether. Harry Lee Johnson was a retail store manager and worked part time at a pr inting company. Candyce was a purchasing agent for a Fortune 100 company. “We were n ine months behind in our property taxes and deep in credit card debt,” they recall. “We didn’t see any hope in sight. Before discovering Herbalife, Julie Morin worked in the world of corporate finance.
