Informaon about Key dates will be sent home closer to the day. Foundaon Term Three Newsleer Welcome to Term Three. This Newsleer aims to give you some informaon about what your child will be learning, across the curriculum. Please connue to visit the Dojo website frequently as we aim to be as environmentally aware as possible by providing you with informaon about key events electronically, rather than on paper. LITERACY This term we will connue to revise individual sounds and explore the formaon of all leers in their upper and lower case form. We will review the digraphs, sh, ch, th, wh and ph, and introduce word families ending in ‘ng’ and ‘nk’. Students will explore the rules for wring ‘ck’ at the end of words and use magic ‘e’ to write words containing long vowel sounds. They will connue to read and write ‘Tricky’ sight words. In Wring, students will be wring rhyming poems, fables and informaon reports. We are using the COPS acronym to edit our work. COPS stands for Cap- italisaon, Organisaon, Punctuaon and Spelling. When reading, the children will explore effecve reading strategies to increase their accuracy and flu- ency. We are also focusing on expanding their vocab- ulary and comprehension skills. MATHS In Number, we will be learning about the value of each digit in a two digit number. We will explore effecve addion strategies, such as counng on and using doubles. The children will explore the praccal applicaon of subtracon strategies including cre- ang number stories and crossing off to take away. Students will compare two digit numbers and idenfy numbers before and aſter, to 20. They will represent simple, everyday financial situaons involving money. In Measurement and Geometry, students will explore concept of me, 3D shape. In Stascs and Probability students will learn about chance and data collecon. INQUIRY - Fairness and Friendship The children will learn about social justice through the lens of fairness and friendship. They will practise fol- lowing classroom and family rules and will consider appropriate actions in different places that they might visit. The children will learn techniques to manage conflict and use appropriate social skills when working in a team. Essential questions we will ask are: How can I listen with understanding and empathy? Why is it important to following classroom rules and family rules? What are appropriate acons in different places? What is 'right' and 'wrong'?
