  • Research Highlights •Benzo[d]thiazole-2-carbanilides as new anti-TB leads acting on protein target

    specific to mycobacterium with activity against INH-resistant strain.

    •The compound NP-96 has been discovered as potent in vitro and in vivo

    blood-schizontocidal antimalarial activities against drug-sensitive and drug-

    resistant parasites further in vivo studies on Rhesus Monkey to examine their

    anti-relapse (tissue-schizontocidal) activity is in progress in collaboration with

    CDRI, Lucknow.

    •Potent anti-fungal peptidomimetic that effectively kill C. neoformans have been

    identified with activity better than standard drug and synergistic activity with

    known anti-fungals.

    •Short peptide-based inhibitors that exhibit potent inhibition of amyloid beta-

    peptide (Aβ) at very low micromolar concentrations have been identified with

    potential to treat the Alzheimer’s disease.

    •Established link between some medicinally important chemicals (divalent NI

    compounds) and phase transfer catalysis. This phenomenon has association

    with drug transport also.

    support and use of these nano-biocatalysts for drug synthesis

    • Optimization the process parameter for the production of transaminase and

    laccase in stirred tank bioreactor.

  • Research Highlights

    • Improved delivery of paclitaxel via polymeric micelles

  • Central Instruments

    Laboratory (CIL)

    • Earlier for external samples we use to offer 50 % discount on

    analysis charges to Govt institutes only but from 1st April 2018 we

    had extended this facility to students of Private institute also.

    • Charges for getting samples analyzed for NIPER students in

    departments other than then CIL were removed.

    • CIL got Rs 9 Crore for the purchase of sophisticated analytical

    instrument , We are in the process to buy instruments like NMR

    500 MHz, HRMS, Powder XRD, DSC , TGA and MALDI.

    • A number of highly used instruments installed at various

    locations at NIPER have been merged with CIL.

    Technology

    Development Centre

    (TDC Pilot Plant)

    • Industrial training titled “Practical training on in-process testing

    and plant machinery, process and management” was imparted to

    the students of NIPER. This, a four week program, involves

    safety, cGMP manufacturing, pilot plant operations, and in-

    process testing aspects, and has been conducted during the

    month of June, 2018. In addition to PTPC students, other

    students from NIPER (Total = 26) also participated. In

    association with SMPIC, TDC-Pilot Plant imparted training to six

    students from Jadhavpur University, Kalkutta.

    • Industrial training on “Organic Synthesis, Process and

    Analytical Chemistry” was provided to seventeen students of S.

    Govt. College of Science Education and Research, Jagraon,

    Ludhiana (Punjab) in January, 2019. During first week of

    February, four students of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa

    College also participated and obtained industrial training at TDC-

    Pilot Plant.

    Development

    Centre (TDC

    Dosage Form)

    • Facility was made functional in 2018-19 with

    Equipments/Instruments (with the capacity of 10 kg

    batch size at a time) and essential utilities

    • Equipments were donated by Zoetis (Pfizer Animal

    Health) and Glennmark

    • This GMP facility is equipped with all required

    manufacturing equipments for Oral Solid Dosage

    (Tablet) (Production & Packing (Blister), In-process

    quality testing (IPQC) and utilities including 14 HVACs

    • Successfully conducted six (06) Pharmaceutical

    Industrial Training programmes were conducted for

    58 students from 6 different Colleges/Universities

    • Trainings were focused on Hands on Training on QA

    & Production operations

    Computer Centre

    A Faculty Assessment Portal

    (http://192.168.18.63/feedback_new/) has been

    developed and made online on the Intranet on NIPER

    S.A.S. Nagar for accepting session-wise online

    feedback of faculty

    and teaching staff by the students and scholars and

    assessment /evaluation by the Academic &

    Examination Section

  • Library and

    Information Centre

    • The library comprises of specialized collection of

    books on pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical

    market reports, thesis & dissertations, newspapers,

    etc. The library subscribes international and national

    journals in the field of pharmaceutical and allied

    sciences for research scholars. The library has access

    to more than 400 full text electronic journals which is

    available through the DELNET consortium to all

    computers in the institute.

    • The main emphasis of the library is on providing

    digital information support which is provided through

    WEBOPAC powerful search engine for finding any

    cataloguing information from library database.

    • The Library is currently in the process of creating

    digital repository of institute publications, archival

    collection, theses and dissertation.

    National

    Toxicology Centre

    • Four projects on acute and repeated dose oral

    toxicity studies from external sponsors have been

    successfully executed

    • One project is ongoing

  • Small and Medium

    Pharmaceutical

    Industry Centre

    (SMPIC)

    • Nine training programmes were conducted, with 81

    participants

    • Three seminars were organized which were attended

    by 144 participants

    Placement Cell

    Companies visited

    • Total 18 companies have already participated in Campus

    Placement at NIPER, Mohali till date.

    • Numbers of companies are still in pipeline to visit NIPER,

    Mohali for Campus Placement.

    Students Placed

    • Total 85 students have been placed in different companies

    till date.

    • Maximum Package: The company Merck has offered

    highest package of Rs. 10.00 lac to Mr. Lalit Sharma, one of

    our students.

    It is followed by the company Eli Lily, which has offered Rs.

    8.40 lac to two of our students.

    • Maximum selection by the company: The company Suven

    Life Sciences, Hyderabad, Telegana has selected 17

    students of NIPER, Mohali which is maximum selection

    done by a company till date. Followed by the companies

    Novartis and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories which selected 11

    and 09 students, respectively.
