Locally procured seeds through Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) like Ginger, Colocosia, Potato, Beans, Chilly etc were sown in Current Jhum. B. Meeting to discuss on the Agriculture contingency plan and convergence plan on CSS was held between Agriculture Dept and FOCUS-IFAD on 2 nd April 2020 with Addl. Chief Secretary & APC. C. Sowing of Kharif crops was done from March till May in the Hills and till July in the foothills by maintaining social distancing and other preventive measures. Certified and improved seeds from authorized dealer of National seed corporation like Arhar, Black Gram, Groundnut, Soyabean and Sesbania about 66.8 MT has been transported to all FOCUS Villages with special permit from District Administration, expected to cover 4440 hectares covering 31692 households. POPs were also compiled and developed for dissemination to the farmers through the DMUs on the following crops. D. HORTICULTURE:
The project has distributed quality planting materials of orchard and plantation crops to
the farmers during June –July 2020 through the Department of Horticulture, Nagaland.
The planting materials include Khasi Mandarin, Parkai, Arecanut and Plum.
