When I quote others I do so in order to express my own ideas more clearly. Along with success comes a reputation for wisdom. Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Daniel has always been a creative individual. He is contiuously

finding new ways to express himself and always pushing himself to the next breakthrough.

During his senior year he came to the realization that everything in the world was a beautiful thing, that at one point during the creative process, was conceived by a designer. It is at this point that he really began to absorb the environment around him and become influenced by such.

He was now able to appreciate designs everywhere he looked and he truly understood what went into these efforts. Up until this point he never really knew how much of an importance that type played. It is at this point that he had fallen into the interesting world known as typography.

Fast forward to his 3rd quarter at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) where Daniel finally had the opportunity to study this unique design tool. In this class he learned all about reverse, blackletter, and outline type. He

even learned the anatomy of type and how some of these certain elements came to be.

If it wasn’t for this class Daniel would have never fallen in love with a type face. Even though he appreciated type and all its aspects, before this point he was unable to really settle into any one font. However, when he truly sat down in class and really learned to focus on negative space rather then the letters themselves, he was able to become a better designer.

This book is an accumulation of his work throughout the quarter in typography class. It is a reflection of the efforts and time spent studying the concept of type and its uses. It contains logo designs, magazine spreads, advertisements, and more.
