Forum Theatre Method Author

Augusto Boal (16 March 1931 - 2 May 2009) was a Brazilian theatre director, writer and politician. He was the founder of Theatre of the Oppressed, a series of techniques that use theatre as means of promoting social and political change.

In 2008, Augusto Boal was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and in March 2009, he received the title of "World Theatre Ambassador" from the UNESCO.

Let’s try it!

Participants: •Ms. Brown - SOS Mother, •John - SOS child (10 years), •Mr. Jefferson - John’s biological father that has just been discharged from the prison (he was accused of selling drugs five years ago).

Situation: Ms. Brown and John are waiting for John’s biological father. John hasn’t seen his father for 5 years already because the father was in prison for selling drugs. All this time John has been dreaming about meeting his father, he has no other biological relatives (his biological mother died of drug overdosage soon after her husband got into prison).

Role playing start scene:SOS Mother Ms. Brown and John are sitting at the table with tea and a cake and waiting for John’s father.
