These injuries, some fatal, create suffering for those involved and their dependants. Even an accident not involving injury may result in costly damage to trucks, buildings, fittings and the goods being handled. Lift truck accidents are frequently associated with lack of suitable operator training. Such training is an essential first step to reducing damage and injury to key personnel. A Code of Practice has been agreed by the Health and Safety Commission following widespread consultation, which came into effect in April 1989 and is designed to help employers meet their legal obligations, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, in ensuring that all operators have the necessary training. This code was amended and enlarged in 1999. (HSE ACOP L117) No person should be employed to operate a lift truck unless he or she has satisfactorily completed basic training and approved testing as described in the code. We are an Accredited Training Organisation approved by the Award Body RTITB to conduct Fork Lift Truck training courses for operatives.
