resources in many ways.”
LISA ALLEN State Forester,
Missouri Department of Conservation “The Arbor Day Foundation is working with SFI to help tell a
broader audience about supply chains and to grow corporate
sustainability.”

atmospheric carbon at a global scale and it supports other important benefits like
biodiversity”

4 2018 SFI ANNUAL CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
EDUCATION “The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is partnering with SFI to provide opportunities for youth to get outside and

engaging youth in citizen science and introducing them to STEM careers.”
ROBYN BAILEY NestWatch Project Leader, Cornell Lab of Ornithology
“Our program helps Indigenous youth connect to the land and
build their understanding of who they are as its natural caretakers.
Support from SFI and PLT Canada enabled us to grow from
two camps to four camps.”
DAVID BRADLEY Regional Manager, Outland Youth
Employment Program
“We guarantee that teachers get the full forestry experience. Teachers and foresters are similar, they are both tasked with taking care of something precious and
helping it grow…Project Learning Tree is a great program for informal educators. And it is integral to the work we
do.”
GUY SABIN Vice President, Forestry Association of South Carolina and
Coordinator, South Carolina SFI Implementation Committee
COMMUNITY
“We need to not only invite diversity but ensure it is a business driver. We cannot achieve our mission at USFS without a safe, respectful workplace that
represents the diversity that we serve.”
VICKI CHRISTIANSEN, Chief, U.S. Forest Service
“My family has been managing forests for thousands of years. I am somebody’s seventh generation, and someone will be mine. I am like the planting of a seed…Everyone has to learn how to walk in each
other’s path.”
LENNARD JOE President, Nicola Tribal Association and
