On Thursday, 28 February Forbes Public were invited to attend the first ever Junior AECG meeting at Forbes High School. Alice Bray and Jesse Flick who are our school Junior AECG members represented our school with pride.
The session was organised by Mr Barry Merritt who is the AECG President and he invited all the schools across the Forbes area who are involved in the AECG. The children participated in a variety of leadership activities and were supported by the AECG community and elders.
As this was the first meeting held positions for a committee were formed. A huge congratulations must go to Alice Bray who is now the supporting Treasurer for the Junior AECG committee and thanks to Mr Merritt for hosting such a great afternoon.
All positions were filled with both senior and junior roles. The 2019 Committee for the Forbes Junior AECG

Stage 3 Aboriginal Art
In Stage 3 this term we are looking at Aboriginal Art as a topic. We have also incorporated a local Wiradjuri man, Brad Holmes to teach us some aspects about culture, language and dance. Each class in Stage 3 are participating in a five week block to learn about culture and dance.
The stage 3 classes will then perform for the primary area our dances we have learnt throughout the term.
Many thanks must go to Brad for his wonderful guidance as the children have learnt and experienced a great deal.
Malaki Paahi, Jesse Flick, Reece Matheson, Stirling Francis
Congratulations to all 25 FPS swimmers who competed on Friday and good luck in Dubbo on Thursday of Week 7.

Condobolin Swimming Pool
Forbes Public School had great success at the Lachlan PSSA Swimming Team Trials on Friday, with 20 out of 25 making the Lachlan team. That’s 80% of students!
Many students did personal best times and even those that didn’t qualify improved their time and gave 100% effort. We are very proud of every student who attended on Friday. Their behaviour was perfect and they displayed excellent sportsmanship.
The following students will represent the Lachlan PSSA Swimming Team on Thursday, 14 March in Dubbo.
1L - Eddie White - Being a respectful land responsible learner
Lucy Fairley - Working hard in all areas
1B - Maggie Dooley - Consistently following our PBL values
Jock Townsend - 100% effort in all aspects of school life
EEP 2019
Students who are taking part in EEP lessons this term have been busy collecting recycled materials to make musical instruments. Designs have been inspired by “The Recyclers: From trash to triumph” the story of the recycled orchestra of Paraguay.
EEP students have been working through their design process and thinking creatively to plan their instruments and are now beginning to put their design process into action and create their instruments.
We look forward to seeing their musical instruments and hearing them play.
Last Friday our school participated in Clean Up Australia Day. Each year group were responsible for cleaning up a designated area of our school. It was great to see the students interested in keeping our environment clean.
