· The human body is made up of water, protein, minerals and fat.
The water protein and minerals make up the fat free mass (FFM) of
the body, and the fat makes up the fat mass.
· Body composition is a measurement of a person’s fat mass and
fat free mass (lean mass).
BMI is a common method of measuring body composition as it is
fat and easy. Although not the most accurate, it can still provide
some beneficial information.

Body composition changes with age…
Fat mass generally increases, and muscle mass decreases with
age. This means you are at a higher risk of becoming obese.
However, it does not mean you will become obese. You can control
whether you do or not.

· Respiratory problems
· Musculoskeletal
Body fat percentage that is too high or too low puts you at risk
for many diseases as well as reduced overall quality of life.
