Eighth Grade on Retreat The eighth grade students traveled to Camp Maria in Leonardtown, Maryaldn, for their annual class retreat. Throughout the two-day retreat, students played and prayed together. They ate s'mores over the campfire, reflected on their time at De Chantal, and focused on forming closer relationships with peers, faculty, and God. Parent Lecture Series Dr. Bonnie Aucker, Psy. D. addressed the school community on the topic: Helping Our Worried Children: A Cognitive-Behavioral Approach to Helping Children Handle Stress and Anxiety. Dr. Zucker is a licensed psychologist with a background and expertise in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Using a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, Dr. Zucker has helped hundreds of children, teens, and adults become anxiety-free by teaching them coping skills, methods for challenging their faulty thinking, and how to systematically face their fears. This fantastic speaker gave strategies for parents to help their children with stress as well as warning signs that a child may need professional help.

Christmas Dinner for Those Alone & in Need The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will provide meals for hundreds of poor, homeless, elderly, and needy individuals living in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas on Christmas Day. More than 800 Christmas dinners are served each year in the National Shrine Cafeteria and another 800 are delivered to shut-ins. Volunteers are needed to fill many different positions.
