This professional develop- ment and networking time allowed for opportunities to learn about trends in the book manufacturing industry and for attendees to share their experiences with one another. On Sunday, November 9, the newly formed Edito- rial Committee met to wrap up conversations about 2014 publications and to plan for future issues of the Endpaper, a member newsletter, and ShelfLife, an industry publication. If you have ideas on articles that you would like to share or if you would like to contrib- ute an article, please contact Deb Nolan at dnolan@ hardcoverbinders.org. The Library Binding Council (LBC) meeting followed where topics discussed included the Rules of Organization and Procedures; Certification, Recertification, and Examina- tion Procedures; and an update on standards including the ANSI/NISO/LBI Library Binding Standard, Z39. 78-2000, and the Photo Book Standard working group, ISO TC42, WG5. Following this, the BMI Board of Directors met to discuss the business of the association and then met with new members at a reception held just prior to the opening re- ception and dinner of the conference. On Monday, November 10, the day began with the Annual Business Meeting of the Association, where it was noted that BMI’s current membership stands at 113 which is an increase of 43 members over last year, many of whom who joined from the former HBI/LBI. Mike Collinge, Past President and Chair of the Nominat- ing Committee recognized outgoing board members: Paul Bradshaw (FutureMark), Steve Fyfe (Magnum Digital Solu- tions), Charles Marshall (Lightning Source, Inc.), and Mike Seagram (Sheridan Books, Inc.). Incoming board mem- bers include Ted Greene (GP2 Technologies), Mark Levin Book Manufacturers’ Institute Annual Conference Continued next page November 9 – 11, 2014 • Hyatt Coconut Point, Bonita Springs, Florida
