TECHNICAL REINFORCEMENTS FOR THE COMPOSITE INDUSTRY THE SCOTT & FYFE RANGE OF MULTIAXIAL FABRICS FOR THE COMPOSITE INDUSTRY Scott & Fyfe have developed the Polyform range of multiaxial reinforcement fabrics for the composite industry. These non-crimp fabrics (NCF’s) are stitch bonded as opposed to woven. This results in increased fibre alignment allowing for stronger, stiffer and lower weight laminates to be produced. Available in unidirectional, biaxial, triaxial and quadaxial orientations. Characteristics such as drape and resin permeability can be optimised to meet specific requirements. The Polyform range can also be produced in combination with other fabrics such as chopped strand mat (CSM), woven roving (WR), flow media and surface veils to provide customers with customised solutions. Polyform UD is a unidirectional fabric where the majority of fibres are orientated in one single axis. This allows for maximum mechanical properties to be gained in a single direction making it an ideal solution for long aspect ratio parts such as wind blades. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Configuration is 0° or 90° Weight range is 300gsm – 1200gsm Applications include automotive, rail vehicle, boat building and wind blades Polyform Biaxial 0/90 is a bidirectional fabric with warp and weft plies orientated at 0° and 90°. This allows for maximum mechanical properties to be gained in both directions for strategic placement in a structure such as structural panels. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Configuration is 0° and 90° Weight range is 300gsm – 1200gsm Applications include construction, automotive, boat building and access covers
