Business Opportunities
MessageMessage From August 27 through August 29, 2015, Japan DIY Industry Association will be hosting “JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2015” at Makuhari Messe. As the largest event in the DIY and home improvement industry, the show will be “a comprehensive exhibit on housing and living”. Through the cooperation of manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, a broad range of approximately 200,000 products offered at home improvement retailers will be on display. Since the first event was held in 1978 in a bid to promote the “comprehensive growth of the DIY industry and to enrich the daily lives of the public through the healthy dissemination of DIY”, the show has been held 35 times in Tokyo and 15 times in Osaka, which, combined, will make the upcoming 2015 event its 51st exhibition. In commemoration of the 50th hosting of the event between eastern and western Japan, the 2014 show had been held for three days from August 28 through 30 at halls 4-8 at Makuhari Messe. Amid extensive cooperation and support from related parties, 495 companies / 1,114 booths exhibited, a far greater numbers than the previous year, with a 105,000-strong visitor turnout, approximately 20,000 more than in 2013. It is without doubt that these are the results of the support and cooperation that we have received and the determination of our exhibitors to develop and further spread the DIY industry, and I would like to take this opportunity to convey our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been involved.
As often covered by the media in recent years, “DIY-joshi”, or “DIY women”, are an integral part of the rising levels of interest and opportunities for do-it-yourself creations. DIY retailers and home improvement stores are frequently featured in magazines and on television, and they continue to attract much public attention. Our show last year was covered and received air time on NHK television and other private broadcasters, as well as being printed in large numbers of newspapers and industry publications. Under such conditions, we have been supporting women’s DIY initiatives and have set up a zone catered to the theme of “DIY women who shine”, where relevant items are showcased together. It has been enormously popular among exhibitors and visitors alike, and many women have come to visit with their friends and families. We would like to ensure that our 2015 show will be an even more worthwhile experience for our exhibitors, and various events are being planned. These include our annual “Japan DIY Product Competition” for exhibitors to display their new products and hit items, “HOMECENTER TRADE II”, an event for promoting exchange with HC buyers, and many other opportunities where exhibiting companies will be also able to take part, as well as those that will give visitors first-hand experiences. We will be boosting our efforts to create avenues for conducting proactive PR to buyers and other relevant parties, as well as to general consumers, where introductions to products and their methods of use may be demonstrated and vigorous business discussions get underway, and consider events and measures to promote large turnouts of consumers and other visitors.I would like to call on you to consider exhibiting and participating in JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2015 as we make an all-out effort to make it an event that will contribute to the further development of home improvement and related industries.
