EDIBLE GARDENING TIPS• For a new veggie garden, choose a spot with well-

drained soil that receives at least 6 hours of full sun.Ask us about the many advantages of growing veggiesin raised beds!

• Remove weeds early while they are easy to hoe or pull, and before they flower and produce seed.

• Add compost, manure & soil amendments as soon as soilcan be easily turned over. Avoid working in soggy soil.

• Cool weather veggies can be grown from transplantsor from seed sown directly in the garden. Lettuce, peas, arugula, radishes, carrots, leeks, onions & spinach are allgood choices.

• Strawberries, blueberries and other small fruit plants arebest planted in early spring.

• Many fruits and vegetables can be grown successfully incontainers – Check out the container gardening sectionof the flier for more info!
