PFAUDLER In-Line agitator drives provide anadaptable, compact, clean profile package and aresupplied as standard on our small to mediumimperial and DIN reactors. They are suitable forupgrading existing reactors allowing them to benefitfrom the latest developments in drive, seal andagitation technologies.

The space saving modular design comprises aclose coupled motor, gearbox and agitator. Thegearbox is supported directly from the top of theseal cartridge and the drive is then mounted onto asuitable adaptor plate. This allows the upgrading ofexisting glass steel or alloy vessels with no vesselmodification required.

Features:

• Compact in-line design – allows greater

space around the drive to connect process

pipework and equipment to reactor top

head nozzles

• Clean profile – no belts, pulleys or belt

guards

• Double wet, single and double dry seals can

all be fitted within the standard seal

cartridge

• Suits any vessel drive mounting with adaptor

plates allowing connection to any mounting

pad, flange, base ring or nozzle/boss

combination

• Complementary to our Cryo-Lock system of

agitation allowing the use and benefits of high

performance mixing systems

VSO In-line agitator drives SERIES– VSO1M, VSO2M, VSO3M, VSO4M and VSO5M

• Agitator shaft end meets DIN 28159 for glass

and DIN 28154 for alloy

• Variable speed option by mechanical variator

or electronic inverter control

• High efficiency helical gear unit

• Plug in IEC standard motors allow a wide

selection of motor specifications,

eg hazardous area or inverter rated

• Noise level below 80dB(A)

• CE stamped drive system.

Customerrequirements • operating pressure/temperature?

• single or double seal?

• seal barrier fluid - process compatible/FDA certified?

Seal systems

FACTORS INFLUENCING SPECIFICATION:

DOUBLE WET SEAL SINGLE DRY SEALFig 4. Fig 5.

Seal types:

A double wet seal is supplied as standard and issuitable for vessel pressure of full vacuum to 10bar G and vessel temperature up to 200oC

For higher pressure vessels up to 25 bar G theseal is available as a balanced type

Special pressure and temperature requirementscan be supplied on request

All process wetted parts are non-metallic andcorrosion resistant ie. PTFE wedge, ceramic seatand carbon face. Other materials can besupplied on request

Single dry seals are available for less hazardousduties or where product purity is a consideration

Double dry seals are available for hazardousduties or where emissions must be controlled

The seal housing is supplied in carbonsteel as standard or stainless steel whenrequested. It has an internal jacket toassist with cooling or heating for eitherhigh or low temperature applications. Atool kit is available for changing sealswith the agitator supported outside thevessel – no vessel entry is required.

Lubrication units:

For wet seals we offer a low cost deadend lubrication system as standard. Foran upgrade, a thermo syphon lubricationsystem with various instrumentationoptions can be supplied. Alternatively, aforced pumped lubrication system can besupplied for the more severeapplications. For pharmaceuticalapplications we can supply FDA certifiedbarrier fluid. For dry seals, gas supportsystems are available.

Mounting systemsMounting systems

THE DRIVES can be fitted onto a wide variety ofmountings by means of adaptor plates. These areavailable in various certified materials to suit theprocess conditions and the code requirements ofthe pressure vessel. Materials for adaptor platesinclude, glass lined steel, PTFE lined, carbon steel,
